Buddy Reviews

Not really worth paying for… yet.

It is missing some sort of an “open to dive” status to link people together. Otherwise it’s better to just join a facebook group and throw out a post looking for buddies with specific certs to join in.

Nothing else like it

There isn’t another app on the market that does what Buddy is doing for divers. Connecting with new dive buddies, logging dives, and sharing to social within one app. Take my money!!

Best Diving App

I love using the buddy app to meet new dive buddies while I’m traveling. I have met so many awesome new buddies using the Radar feature! The Buddy app is far the best app to log dives. It’s great being able to add photos to my dive logs and being able to share them on social media. Best diving app out there!

5 Stars: Great app for meeting a new dive buddy!

The Buddy app exceeded my expectations by connecting me with an outstanding dive buddy. My new dive buddy and I had amazing experiences underwater and completed 5 dives together during a magical weekend dive trip to Catalina. Thanks to the app's efficient matching system and detailed profiles. It’s a game-changer for anyone looking to enhance their scuba diving adventures. Highly recommend!

Pretty Useless

I want to like it. But it’s pretty useless. It seems like I’d have to pay for the social aspects of the app, without knowing how many people are in my area for it to be worthwhile. When searching for buddies in my area, it yields only a handful of results. As a dive log, I have to log manually, no option to import or export data. I don’t see that being any better than the padi, naui, or ssi apps that allows me to manually log dives. Worst is, I was testing the dive log feature with dummy data. Although it’s only in draft, it comes up in public searches. Although I save it as private, it still pops up in public searches. I delete the draft, it tells me the draft was successfully deleted, and yeap, you guessed it, it’s still coming up in public searches. I deleted and reinstalled the app to clear it from cache… nope it’s still there. Who’s doing qa on this??

Don’t waste your time.

The app is a great concept, but an epic failure. I added each of my certs, cert numbers AND screenshot cert cards, but could not be verified. Also, the radar portion doesn’t wort at all. Just scrap the app and start over.

Need to work

Good Ideas, but Falls Short on Effort

Rich🦞 on

United States

The creators of the Buddy App have combined a lot of what other dive log apps are missing to create what looks like a diver’s logistic needs for one central hub to do all things DIVE. Unfortunately it seems to fall short on effort as things are slowly rolled out and don’t necessarily perform well. A major faux pas and poor professional standard is their use of AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to write their “blog” articles OR their inability to come up with original content so they repost articles from other underwater blog sources. This makes the entire App seem unauthentic, ungenuine, and shows the lacks of effort or care in the product they deliver to the user. The Buddy Blog articles, while in substance may be truthful lack a targeted accuracy that is observable in the AI-generated text. Additionally, the money grab buddy locator “radar” option is useless. Why would I pay for that service when they advertise the “social aspect” of their “community” to do exactly that?! In my opinion, go all the way or cease the effort. The lack of users on the platform is also pitiful. Formerly the Buddy App and “social community” was alive and abound on social media, but that (much like the effort into this App) has fallen off. Too bad because the rooted ideas were well placed. Just poor execution and lack of effectiveness (effort).

Favorite Logbook & Dive Community App

The Buddy is a fantastic scuba diving companion app! The logbook functionality is crazy robust and allows you to put tons of details into each of your dive logs. Being able to add photos and videos to your logs helps keeps all your dive memories in one place. The ability to have a digital dive bag to keep track of all the gear you use and mark what gear you use on each dive is so cool. From an instructor and dive shop owner point of view the ability to push dive log verification to my students is awesome, and helps to teach them how to make good dive logs. The social aspect of the app makes it fun to keep up with our divers as they go on and explore the underwater world. It’s a great way to interact with other divers, and the articles that are posted are interesting and fun too. I recommend this app to everyone of my students and everyone that walks through the doors of our dive shop. If you are looking for the best dive log app with tons of other functions that you will use and enjoy; then look no further and enjoy your new Buddy!

My favorite scuba app!

This app combines a digital dive log and social media app with a means to digitally discover friends, dive locations and certification verification with a way to share dive pics and videos to your other social media sites! Fantastic!! Love this app. Just download it.
