I think the app is great. Ok, sometimes it does not identify your insect correctly, but I feel often this is due to the poor quality of my photo. What I really like about the app is that you can send your photo to an expert for identification at a click of a button if you think your insect has been misidentified. They usually get back to you within a couple of days with a correct identification. So what is there not to like? Happy customer!
Very slow Once photo selected, touch done & nothing happens No obvious mention of subscription on the App Store page, but once is finally working, it tells you it has identified the insect, but will not tell you what it is until you subscribe Have deleted app
Make it impossible for you to get cancel your subscription. The product is rubbish
Looks like a free trial but you have to subscribe to see any results. It suggests a match for almost any insect you throw at it. When you subscribe to see the results they are mostly wrong, often mikes off, such as a picture of a common blue butterfly being detected as a beetle etc. Fortunately you can unsubscribe as soon as you realise it doesn’t work.
better off with google glass
Wanted to quickly identify a larva. At first it gave no results, then told me it was “insect”. To test it I scanned some aphids. Under the aphids information it said “aphids is not harmful”. Pretty useless.
Just wanted to check if a spider was harmless or not. Made me go through the whole set up. Take a picture m, the app scans and then asked me for a monthly subscription. Sham
I was surprised this exists, and “just works”. Now I can answer my kids’ “what is this bug” questions 🥹
