Superb ultrasound solution

IV access in cancer patients in our PET CT department is always a challenge! NOT NOW WITH A BUTTERFLY HANDHELD US.

Scanning controls need some work

Butterfly have finally made some AI calculation features available recently, and that’s quite welcome. However, one gripe I have with the scanning interface is that it’s very difficult to use one-handed on a bigger iPhone (ex XS max) ... please just provide an option to keep operation controls either to the left of the screen or the right. Having them centred doesn’t help anyone with normal sized hands.

Really intuitive, with more features coming

I really like the app. I use the Butterfly IQ almost daily in my anaesthetic practice, for nerve blocks, vascular access and focused (limited) echocardiography. I understand that Simpson’s monoplane ventricular ejection fraction is coming soon, as is indicated in the user manual. This will be good if the AI would also allow it to be used in apical two chamber view so I can average the two measurements for a bi-plane figure. Maybe that will also come. Another feature I would like to see is the ability to edit clip labels after saving. Sometimes mistakes can be made, so it would be nice to be able to edit them later. This device and the companion app have really added to my practice, to the benefit of my patients.

Poor Service

Bought a butterfly during their Black Friday promotion, received it timely but the probe was not working, delaying care to my clients who needed it at the time. Has been 2 weeks since then and still haven’t received my replacement probe but was sent an email asking about returning the original malfunctioning probe (the email instructions say to wait until the replacement comes to send the old one back). Very disappointed with the lack of urgency this organization has taken to assist me in getting the device I paid over $2,000 for, considering that is a big amount of money for a small business to invest in equipment. At this point I’m considering requesting a refund and purchasing a devise from a different carrier.

Doesn’t last longer than 4 years

This product was great. I got wonderful images from the prove it was very beneficial to my practice at the time. When I changed clinics I didn’t need the probe as we already had an ultrasound. When we wanted a second one I offered mine that was sitting on the shelf in the case. When I went to try it, I got nothing but failure messages. I was told it was an unrecoverable failure. Since it was out of the warranty I could send it back so they could help improve their product and I was encouraged to buy a new one. Moral of the story spend the money and buy a better system. Was an absolute waste of money. Greg Thompson DVM
