Good idea but terrible app

gksisifn sjajdiv on

I saw it and thought it would be good and helpful to write a story with, I started to make one, it won’t let me write down the characters name, it keeps on taking me to my home page and it won’t actually let me write anything? Good in theory but displayed terribly, don’t waste your time on this app just use your notes pages

Horrific Lag

Talia.C on

its a brilliant app, detailed categories and good tracking for world building, but the lag makes it virtually unusable, it randomly deletes articles and moves things around unprompted, and tends to delete my text and keyboard midway through a sentence it refuses to type down - its a shame, because it’d probably be a great world builder if not for that.

Terrible UI

DigitalPesticide on

Awful UI and full of bugs as to be barely usable.

if you use iPad then don’t even bother

evathegriever :) on

i use my iPad for writing my books and this looked promising at first and when it downloaded i was really excited to try it out but as soon as i saw it wasn’t suitable for iPads i immediately deleted it because the reason i write on my iPad is for the big screen but this is only good for phones and i don’t really want to write everything on my small phone. even turning my iPad horizontally, it was still crap and the keyboard is just really small. if you make an iPad version then i would rate it a lot higher because it is a good app for planning out your books but it isn’t so i’m just going to keep my rating for now.

Search

duck lover (duck lover) on

I love this app honestly. I would rate it five stars if it wasn’t for this one thing that would be a lifesaver in my work. Please make it so that the search bar filters for individual pages instead of just sections. It would make the app a lot more usable and definitely 5 stars. Thank you.

Useless on iPad

Big Tram on

This app looked like it would be very useful for writing and, indeed, the computer version works well. But on the iPad it is completely hopeless. The developers have not actually made an iPad version - they have simply given us the iPhone version. And it doesn’t even scale up properly. Talk about hopeless! And if you turn your iPad horizontal to use with a keyboard, you are left with an upright, iPhone-sized window in the middle of the screen. And that is how they expect you to use the app??? What happened, guys? Ran out of developers? Or simply couldn’t be bothered? Either way, you should be ashamed.

errors

forced ro do this on

The app seems to be good for writers and appears to be laid out perfectly to keep everything organised However, when creating a characters attributes I cannot seem to continue writing without the app resetting me to the top and refusing to let me view the sections I wanted to continue on

Crashing?

Littlestgoodgirl on

Seemed good when I was on desktop, however after moving onto mobile I found that trying to access any of my Character files made the app crash. Would there be any reason for this?

Teasing but ultimately useless….at present

Bunford on

This app seems very good for a writer, teasingly good, and seems to cover it all, using a modular approach that allows you to pay for what you need and use. However, it is let down massively due to the wholly bewildering idea to make an iOS version that does not auto-scale to iPad screens. Instead, you are limited to an iPhone portrait screen on the iPad, rendering it next to useless. If they fixed this and made it render to full screen on the iPad automatically, it could then be a powerful writing tool for the portable author using the iPad. Such a crazy oversight for a writing app that wants to compete, particularly in pricing terms, with the likes of Scrivener, Final Draft, Ulysses, IA Writer, LivingWriter, and so on that all have far superior iPad experience. Therefore, as an iPad user, I can only give it 1 star for emailing it available for the iPad, but if they fixed the full screen auto-scaling for the iPad, it would be more like 4 or 5 stars! Please sort this out asap if you’re expecting people to pay for the product as so many writers use iPads nowadays!!!! I truly do want to to use this product, but this limitation prevents me (and no doubt virtually all other iPad writers) from doing so!

For creating stories, it is good but lacking

Boss Harry 2 on

App is good alongside website, but not by itself. App lacks reorganisation, consistency and does not take advantage of the smartphone. Some examples: In reorganisation, elements in modules can’t be reorganised and panels in elements must use a drop down menu at the top, despite list items having a better reorganisation system. App lacks consistency between modules, elements and panels. Panels in elements can reduce its text, but list items inside list panels cannot, and as said before panels can be rearranged but elements cannot, though they should. App does not use touch and hold for functions. Touch and hold could be used in ways such as by holding down the element or a button on an element in a module, the element can be rearranged or a drop down menu appears. However, as said before, app works well in conjunction with website. Some good features: Easy note writing without having to wait for it to load and stored on cloud Panels can be minimised Modules have quick access to other modules Adding panels is easy and clear
