Description

Jupyter notebooks are a powerful tool used in education and research. You can write small snippets of Python code and observe the result on screen, combine with paragraphs of text, using Markdown.

Carnets provides a complete, stand-alone, implementation of Jupyter notebooks. Everything runs on your device, using the embedded Python interpreter; you do not need an internet connection. Compared to the standard version (Carnets), this app adds several packages targeted for scientific computation and learning: scipy, sklearn, seaborn and coremltools. You can switch between standard notebooks and the more modern jupyterlab using the Settings app.

Of course, all the packages included with the standard app are present too: numpy, simply, matplotlib... To see the full list of installed packages, type "%pip list" in a code window. You can add more packages using "%pip install packageName", but only if they are pure Python.

You can share your notebooks with other apps and also open notebooks or directories managed by other apps.

Partial list of installed packages: astropy, babel, bokeh, cartopy, cryptography, cvxopt, Fiona, geopandas, geopy, gym, inequality, libpysal, lxml, mapclassify, matplotlib, networkx, nltk, numpy, openCV, pandas, parso, pillow, pyFFTW, pyproj, qutip, rasterio, regex, Rtree, scikit-learn, scipy, seaborn, segregation, shapely, soupsieve, spopt, statsmodels, sympy, wordcloud.

Fantastic tool

BDP4 on

This is a fantastic tool for working with Jupyter notebooks within the iOS walled garden. The exigencies of the walled garden make Carnets a necessity.

One feature I want

KaijaneDev on

Love the app so useful being able to run python code on my iOS device. However I would love it if you could give us the capability of using your inbuilt python kernel in plain text files while the app is open currently if you open a file say “File.py” it opens it with correct syntax highlighting and so on but there is no way of running the code in that file Thanks

Good app, but…

A really polished app and a fantastic tool, yet unfortunately, the return key doesn’t function to produce a new line in a cell which makes it unusable with the Apple keyboard. Shift Return works to execute the cell, so I’m not sure what the problem is, but it needs to be fixed to make the app usable. If this gets fixed, then this will be a stellar app. I’m really looking forward to using it again when fixed.

Great app, 1 question

Zico11😇 on

This is a great app to create and run ML Python codes on iPad, and definitely earned the 5 stars. However, I do have a serious issue with keyboard, I guess it is probably the key-binding. With external keyboard it is impossible to press enter or return to go to a new line. Without this it is impossible to use this app with external keyboard. I have tried editing the shortcuts but without any success. Any clue how I can edit the shortcuts to allow me gain access to the usual function of the “RETURN” key? Without this I am not able to enter a new line and writing code with touch screen is a no-no. Thanks.

Future upgrades.

Who knows what when on

Thought about embedding clang ANSI C compiler in this great app.
