Description

Chord Analyzer is an interactive, reverse chord finder.
If you don't know a chord on a score, if you're looking for the best notation for a composition, or if you're looking for an original position for a chord on the guitar (or on another stringed instrument), then Chord Analyzer is for you.
Chord Analyzer provides a bridge between stringed instruments (guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, etc.), the piano and American chord notation.
Press the keys on the piano or the frets on the guitar, and the application will recognize the chord and indicate its most appropriate notation. Also choose a chord from the dictionary to see all the positions that can be played on the guitar or banjo.
Thanks to a powerful algorithm, the application is not limited to known positions and offers many more suggestions than the classic chord dictionaries. Listen to them, play them, modify them directly on the application and make the best choice for your compositions or interpretations!
In the full version, the application proposes to extend this intelligent and interactive chord dictionary system to more exotic instruments (7-string guitar, Ukulele, mandolin, banjo, violin...), offers to bookmarks your favorite chords in order to work them later and above all... works with open tunings! Don't be afraid to retune your instruments because you won't be able to find the positions of all your chords quickly.
Also enjoy a piano-guitar interface to efficiently exchange between guitarists and pianists on original or complex chords.

Best in class

lenonator on

I love this app and use it regularly as I compose. I’ve tried a few chord finder apps - this one is my favorite.

Clean and effective

slowlygettingfaster on

United States

This is exactly what I was looking for. I needed an easy reference for creating guitar parts from piano music at church. I can build the chords with the keyboard, see the notes match the sheet music, then look for the guitar chord voicing that fits. A beautiful app that looks nice and does exactly what it’s meant to do. And for 1.99, you can have the guitar and the keyboard on the screen at the same time, well worth it.

I like it....... butttttttttttttttttttt

Please fix the bug where it just goes out of the app. Idk if this is just on apple products or what, but it does it on both iPad and iPhone. And it blocks out letters with a black rectangle.

Used to be great, but crashes all the time now.

I have used this app for a long time now. I have always loved it. However, it now crashes all the time. Usually I have to power down & reboot my IPad to just get out of the app.

Good for tenor banjo

Rockin' Charlie on

United States

I’ve played bluegrass, plectrum and tenor banjo-each with its own unique tuning. The tenor banjo section of this app is priceless! I have a vintage tenor banjo that now gives me twice as much joy to play as a result of using this app. As a jazz guitarist, I can’t wait to play around with all the chord inversions (I also have the Roy Smeck 4,400 guitar chord book somewhere???). Who knows? I might become the next Joe Pass!

Easily the best chord app for the iPad

Adora Frost on

United States

This app is such an immense help in so many ways. If you are looking for a quick way to identify, locate, or hear any chord on your instrument I can’t recommend this enough. Even the free version is way better than the alternatives (paid ones included) but I can sincerely say that the full version of this is the best $1.99 I have ever spent - it is worth 10x that. Both writing and learning is so much easier with this app. The developer was also very kind and responsive when I ran into a minor problem. 5 stars all around.

Clefs?

Grand Plantagenet on

United States

Just got the app. Seems useful. I’m a brass player who has only used treble clef so it was disappointing to see that the default chords are written in bass clef. Can this be changed?

Update Needed

arcticgrape on

United States

Please Update this app, for the upgrade made on the app, there are some features that do not work, such as the chord library dictionary for the piano where it has 1-7 sounds, also for each of the library dictionaries, there is no play or sound button. This app would be a million times better with those fixes. Thanks
