I’ve tried myriad habit tracking apps in the past such as When Did I…? and TickTick. Chronicling stands out from the crowd with it’s multi device support, easy to use interface and frequent updates. The iCloud syncing between different Apple devices is rock solid.
I have so much love for this app. It is exactly what I have been looking for pretty much my entire adult life, and it’s even more vital to me now as I attempt to heal the damage of burnout and dissociation, and learn how to accommodate chronic illnesses and late diagnosed neurodivergence that keep my day-to-day highly unpredictable. Most other productivity apps or sites I’ve tried, and I’ve tried dozens, require too much setup, have distracting or overstimulating designs or features, or just serve as another source of shame which leads to avoidance. I am discouraged by reminders that I am behind or late or just not being productive enough. I also struggle to determine priority or frequency of tasks, and if a task gets hidden until the due date? Absolutely setting myself up for failure. Some habit trackers I’ve tried are satisfactory, but I often fail to maintain them for one reason or another. Every time I try a new app, I say “I wish it would just let me track how often I do something and give me the data, not tell me when to do it and make me feel bad when I fail!” And then I found Chronicling! Easy to setup, no unnecessary frills, simple but pleasing design, very reasonable cost for premium, a genuinely convenient watch app!!! The data/graphs have helped me recognize patterns and get an idea of what my instinctual productivity is like, notice what I tend to avoid or gravitate towards, identify periods of high or low activity and correlate them with my health or mental state or whatever else, see where I might be wasting energy on lower priority tasks and burning out before more important things, and also just remember when I last did something! I’m still populating it with all that I want to track, slowly integrating things to avoid overwhelm, and getting better at consistently logging, but I don’t dread doing it, and that means I am far more likely to remember. It’s such a new app, too, and I am so excited to see how it grows. I don’t know if the dev created this with any of the things I’ve mentioned in mind, but I thank them profusely either way.
Incredible UI. Would be great if you can add reminders as notifications. Like everyday at 8pm you get a notification to check your habits. Sometimes I forget to put them on a day that I’m busy
This app is so amazing at doing exactly what it needs to do. The only thing missing is to sync with ICloud so I can also track through my MacBook. Hoping the developer adds this feature!
I’ve been looking for an app exactly like this for so long. I’ve downloaded dozens of apps to help me with habits while also tracking things I want, all while not being crazy expensive. I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for. I’m so thankful I found this app so I can stop searching and focus on self improvement. :)
This app now is worthless. After the update it got rid of the number of days prior to 2024 This app is now completely useless to me
I really appreciate the emphasis on averages over streaks. This is much better suited to how I want to track the various activities in my life.
I really like this app, I’ve tried a few different trackers and this one is much more chill and feels inviting to use. Two suggestions: 1. Allow for a mode that removes time and just uses the date for tracking an item 2. Allow for half completions I’m using the free tier (just 3 trackers) and it’s very functional for my needs. Should I need more the pricing is fair for the upgrade.
Some of the App is done very well The Events tab is extremely disappointing and I would give that a -10 if I could Having time listed on the events tab and having all of these dots on a graph with no way to drill down on them is useless to the user. By hitting the magnifying icon it brings up a calendar but am Unclear what the calendar is supposed to represent in relation to the app
