Doesn’t work

Mf31692 on

Tried the app out when visiting Montreal but it didn’t work for myself or the rest of my family. Kept saying “server error” every time I clicked on anything and I couldn’t see any projections. I wouldn’t trust the app at all and needs a lot of work.

Didn’t work

@Ben82 on

First, the website listed only 3 locations that weren’t open, but when you open the app at least half of them aren’t available. Then, it says sunset, but once we got to our first location, it actually started 40 min after sunset. So we waited. In the cold. Finally it hit the time, but the app didn’t work. It kept synchronizing for us and all the people around us for over 15 minutes. So, we gave up and walked to a second location, where it did the same thing before finally alerting us that there is a server error. Which isn’t noted anywhere on their website or anywhere you can look before actually showing up to the location. It seems like such a cool thing to do, but there needs to be better communication when things are closed or not working. And there needs to be clear times posted on the website other than just saying sunset.

Montreal comes alive at night

Even in -8 weather, we were transported at each stop. Amazing technology!

Brilliant idea, needs work

Lemonyfreshk on

We were super excited about to do this and it’s a really fun idea! However, I can’t get the sound to work at all and it’s hard to tell what’s going on without it. It’s also challenging to navigate since it doesn’t give you directions or the address of the next spot.

Way too much work

Love the idea but the app needs work. Isnt there someone in this tech savvy town willing to make it work for the normal tourist?

Terrible App

You would think with all of the technology talent in Montreal they would have found someone who could develop a useable app.

Good Idea Bad Execution

RoadTrip2012 on

This app is pretty difficult to use. The location points are not very accurate and the map doesn’t move well with the haptics on my iPhone. No zoom in or out. The reference point for where I’m standing is incorrect. Downloading the content takes time if I just see the projections while walking around and want to check it out. Not usable on its own. I keep having to go back and forth in a decent navigation app. Audio doesn’t play. Tapping on the (?) leads to just caption options, not actual help suggestions. The idea of a walking tour app is great, and the curated content is interesting, but the navigation needs a lot of work.

Good idea, poor implementation

LoliFigue on

I really liked the idea but, unfortunately, usability is so bad I gave up completely after a few attempts.

Over thought, poorly rendered

srohde on

This is a hot mess. It's slow, confusing, and nags you with warnings and confirmation pop ups every time you touch the screen. I can just hear the inane and unending discussions of the self-absorbed development team who worked on it. They thought they were delivering a polished gem but it's obvious that they put zero effort into real-world usability.

Incredible city app-- especially at night

Pickyiphoneowner on

You MUST at least do one of the 30 minute night circuits if you're in town. The projections on the walls of buildings look fantastic. Do this with an iPad if you can. The extra large screen improves the experience, and you'll need the battery life. Daytime circuit is less visually amazing but still a fun way to spend an afternoon learning about Montreal. A few minor ways this app could be improved: 1) Say which direction to face. We did the first stop of the northern (red) 30 minute day circuit facing the wrong direction, so the picture wasn't as cool. 2) Make the starting address easy to copy & paste into a maps application to get directions to the starting place. 3) The app isn't stable in the background, so if you stop for a coffee you have to reload and click though to get back to where you left off.
