Reliable weather forecasts for astronomers with an emphasis on cloud cover.
Features include:
• Seven day hourly forecasts, updated hourly.
• Low, medium, high and total cloud cover.
• Moon rise/set times and phase.
• Sun rise/set and transit.
• Civil/nautical/astronomical darkness.
• ISS pass-over information.
• Automatically provides a forecast for your current location.
• Save favourite locations for easy access.
• Daytime forecasts for solar observers/imagers.
Updated hourly. Frequent hourly updates are important because often the clear spell between showers provides excellent seeing and 30-minutes under a clear sky with a grab-&-go telescopes is pure gold!
Did you notice the ISS pass-over information? The times are precisely calculated for your location and displayed alongside the cloud forecasts so it has never been easier to observe. It is our favourite feature :-)
Also includes regular weather data (wind, rain, frost, temperature, dew point, etc) so perfect for those wanting a detailed weather forecast, without cutesy graphics.
We have had a lot of fun building and testing Clear Outside and are keen to to develop it further so if you find it useful or have suggestions, please let us know.

Missing lunar info and can’t change longitude
I had no issues with this app until I moved to a different location in the same city. After moving, when I tap on “current location,” the lunar info goes missing. I tried editing my new home location and it wouldn’t let me change the latitude. I deleted the old home position to re-enter my new one using a search and clicking on a position within the database and now the lunar info is missing from both my home position and my current location. Frustrating how it worked fine before when I tapped on current location and now it won’t work at all no matter what I do.
Coordinates
Hi, just wanted to advise you that editing the east/west coordinate is impossible to do with the negative sign in front. Thing is that once you remove it there’s no button for it so you can’t put it back in. Kinda disappointed :(
Had for over 2 years
I have to say this is mostly useless in Canada. Have been using for well over two years as a planning tool for sunrise and sunset photography. Typically it is wrong 75% of the time in regards to cloud coverage.
Somewhat useless.
Wish I could
Wish I could use it but it crashes every time I try to add my location. The info in the location it does show would be very useful.
Heard a lot of great things about this
Unfortunately it is not intuitive when it comes to finding locations. It finds my city Center no problem, but nothing else nearby. Through some digging I was able to find a longitude and latitude option, but the latitude field won’t let me edit the values unless I delete what’s there, and upon deletion I am incapable of entering a negative value. As I live at -96°, this is completely useless to me. Would love to use this app, but alas I cannot.
Very nice app
Very useful! I use it before every AP session.
The only small bug is I can’t modify geo coordinate when adding a new site. Usually my iPhone 8 GPS does the job, but sometimes at some places, it isn’t precise enough...
Fix that and it will qualify for my « hall of fame »!
CS !
Crashes, poor location searching
Works just fine if you live in the default Exeter UK but wouldn’t let me search for locations other than close to where I am at the moment and even when I add those it seems to crash 50% of the time. Looks like the app hasn’t been updated in a while. Deleting it.
Awesome!
This app is great, I use it a lot and it’s very helpful for me!
