I’ve been using for many months now. A good app with great sounds. Although a few things can be annoying. When connecting to AudioBus, always needing to select the audio option back in the app before sound will play. The volume knob graphic does not correspond with MIDI input even though the MIDI input does change the volume. I think the built-in recording feature needs help. A simple EQ feature would be nice. Otherwise good AudioUnit support (e.g. directly embed into GarageBand), great polyphony, minimal latency, and a useful velocity curve setting.
Great app. Enjoy this program a lot. Wish the concert grand model was a bit different. Better than IGrand but still a bit behind Ravenscroft imho. Pianoteq is still hard to beat overall. Playing for 40 years.
I have them all. CMP has limited tweakability but the sound quality is my go to solo piano. Second is igrand also very good more adjustments and different pianos but lack realism depth that CMP somehow delivers. Korg module and Ivory, a slow 3rd. Both Ivory and Natural Grand sound electronic to my ears, not worth the half price deal nor the precious 3 1/2 Gb and I wish I could sell them back.
When you press sustain pedal for more than 3 seconds, it starts to have air below sound, and it becomes louder and louder
Using a midi is great but sometimes not practical on the go. Key spread please and I will continue to throw money at you.
Piano app that is. The more expensive one from the same developer is the best and it has other functional advantages. This one is perfectly stable whereas the other can crash on my likely under powered iPad. It is rare that the other will crash, but this one is completely stable. I own many piano apps, but these two and the Ravenscroft are the only ones I use. This is the bang for the buck without question. I still prefer the Colossal Piano, but I could completely live with this one if it was all I could or wanted to afford. I particularly like the Bechstein on here.
To save you some cash. Buy the red grand piano, the white upright in colossus, and the white grand piano in cmp. The white upright piano in colossus is the most real piano I’ve ever played. They’re breathtaking. Amazing tools. For 15 bucks ? A steal I’d recommend an iPad that has some Space.
It needs a volume control within the audio unit...
Let's see, I've owned Synth Ivory II American D and the Ivory Steinway, Alicia's Keys, Piano in Blue, and even the $600 VI Labs VST, as well as many other of those huge sampled libraries. I also have the iOS version of iGrand... So how good is CMP? The Grand piano is ok, a little thin.. But the Jazz Grand... Wow! What a beautiful piano. This is a piano worthy of one of those above mentioned VST sampled libraries. Is it better? Man I cannot say it's better, but just as good I think. In fact, combined with the iPad or iPhone, you have a compact grand piano that sounds superb. Is CMP better than iGrand? Yes most definitely.. iGrand is still ok, but there seems to be so much more "meat" in CMP. iGrand has a different tone.. And it's nice for something different.
