Description

Smart, interactive must-have app made for actors by an actor.

coldRead runs lines with users by responding to their cues just like a real reader would.

Memorize, rehearse, and self-tape all by yourself.

No internet connection, no email address, and no annoying signing-up process required. The lines you record aren’t sent or synced to the cloud - they stay on your device. Speech recognition happens on the device as well.

coldRead runs on iPhones, iPads, and silicon (M-chip) Macs. coldRead Remote app is available for Apple Watch.

Stop bothering your friends to read with you. Don’t spend money on time-limiting recording studios.

Save money. Be independent. Save time.

• EASY TO USE
Record each line of your script and you’re all set. Lines will be transcribed as you record them.

• ACTS AS YOUR READER
When you say the very last word of your line (the cue), coldRead will “read” the following line back to you, just like a real reader would.

• YOU ARE IN CONTROL
Rehearse anywhere and anytime you want. Change the pitch, speed up or slow down. Be loud or be quiet. It will follow along.

• BUILT-IN TELEPROMPTER
Memorize your lines quickly and efficiently. Use the built-in teleprompter until you’re off-book.

• SELF-TAPE
Put yourself on tape for that last-minute audition or before you get into the room with a casting director. Take as many takes as you need, and take as much time as you want.

Exchange lines or folders with your friends in just a few taps, or change the pitch to make your voice sound different.

With coldReader available in your pocket 24/7, you’ll be always ready, well prepared, and confident.

Once loved this app

twopumpkinpastiespls.com.au on

Ive noticed a significant drop off in voice recognition and fluid use. App frequently crashes and fails to recognise cue lines

Terrible

big moo moo on

Find it really hard to get this to work. You’ll find yourself wasting a massive amount of time and more than likely not have anything to show for it. I’m disgusted.

Voice recognition not quite there

Mint Money Bishes on

It’s a great app, does so much and really streamlines line learning. It must be said, however, that the ‘on cue’ system doesn’t really work well. Perhaps it’s my Australian dialect. Regardless it misses most cues, despite clear tone and diction. Again, great app. Just wish this element would flow properly. Otherwise you have to manually tap or reiterate with exaggerated diction to keep the scene flowing.

It’s good but missing an obvious feature

Mr_Ez on

Why can’t we import a PDF of a script? Having to record all the lines for both reader and actor is tiresome when it could just import them and read the Reader lines as a Siri voice. This seems like one of the most obvious features an app like this should have. Be great if it was implemented.

So good

Recently landed a role that had 10+ pages of dialogue that I needed to learn quickly, genuinely could not have done it without this app. Being able to use anywhere at anytime was a godsend and the teleprompter feature helps reinforce and remember line learning.

Too expensive

Flowerdog44 on

You shouldn’t have to subscribe to get more than only 8 lines at least 10 or 15 then subscribe I get you want to make money but it’s way too expensive and I’m a young actor and I am struggling to learn my lines I cannot afford to subscribe so please make it more lines then subscribe or make the subscribtion a lot cheaper please.

This was almost perfect

Sum-Yung-Guy on

This is currently the best app for actors to learn lines in my opinion. I’ve used it for a couple projects already. That was, however, until introducing a subscription. Now the free version is virtually useless with its limitations, and with only 8 lines and 2 folders, and as a OG user I’ve found myself not bothering to open the app anymore. And the subscription price itself is not very appealing. If it was a one-off purchase for a “pro” version, I’d absolutely buy it in a heartbeat. This is a great tool for learning lines on the go. But please, lighten the restrictions for the free version. I would also note, it seems to not recognise AirPod or other wireless headphone microphones, so I find myself having to hold my phone up close to my face for it to hear the cue lines, rather than being able to leave the phone and move around.

Not worth the price

KE1357911 on

I was an early adopter of this app and although it’s not an amazing app and doesn’t do anything I can’t do other ways, I’d found it really helpful. Now they’ve released an update which essentially makes it a trial-mode app unless you pay for the subscription, disregarding early users. Shame. Poor business practice in my opinion.

Don’t work
