I really like Comet for Reddit. It has become my preferred client since Apollo went down (RIP), mostly for use on my iPad. I like the overall design and features (especially comment color-sorting), especially in contrast to its competition. HOWEVER, its issues are getting very frustrating, mainly: 1) being ‘unable to submit content’ for comments, 2) the ‘error’ when trying to save or vote on posts or comments, and 3) the straight-up absence of content, both in the home feed and the comment section of posts (it’ll just say ‘nothing here’ even though, for example, the posts shows x number of comments; this makes the least sense on the main feed). (I’m just a lurker, so I don’t know what happens with posting.) All of these happen frequently enough that I sometimes wonder why I still bother trying. I’ve deleted/redownloaded the app, signed out/in, and I keep my OS and the Comet app updated; my internet connection is also good. What’s going on? It’s been a few months, and I’ve been hoping these bugs would be squashed with recent updates, but there’s no change. I really don’t want to have to switch Reddit clients again. Fix these problems and I’ll give it 5 stars (and never leave).. it really is a great app—or, at least, it has a lot of potential.
Switched after Apollo closed down. Not reliable, crashes a lot. Used on an iPhone 14 Pro.
Not the apps fault, but Reddit is charging for API access now.
I’ve installed this app twice and it’s still super buggy for me. It’s literally unreadable, the text is all layered over each other, also can’t sign into Reddit. Nothing happens, just get stuck on the authorization page. Hope this gets addressed soon
Not perfect and the UI could use some work to reduce the number of clicks needed to reach certain menus but much better than the stock Reddit app. Shame that Apollo and other third party apps were closed due to API changes but this one gets the job done
Why make it so many clicks to get to the log out button? Edit: now it doesn’t even log out!
was not loading anything — it used to work, not sure when it stopped working logging out and back in fixed it, but would be good if any authentication issues were surfaced to the user also it’s trying to paste from my clipboard **every time** I switch to it
This app is only good for text and images. Sounds is missing from videos and gifs sometimes.
Thanks Dev for this excellent app, clean and functional. Only gripe is, on iPad the app displays content in split view. Is there no way to disable the right preview pane?!? Also would it be possible to swipe to go to next post while in full screen (just like default Reddit app)?
