Line Sudoku
Line Sudoku is a pack devoted to sudokus involving… LINES! Each puzzle features one or more of the popular “lines constraints” that often feature in variant puzzles on Cracking The Cryptic, including Renban, German Whispers, Palindromes, Region Sum and Ten Lines!
We’re thrilled that Line Sudoku includes puzzles by Phistomefel, Qodec, Clover, zetamath, Jay Dyer, Tallcat, Mr Menace, Peter Veenis, Joseph Nehme, Richard Stolk, Prasanna Seshadri, Tyrgannus and Full Deck & Missing A Few Cards! In addition, Mark and Simon have written hints for the challenging puzzles themselves so these hints are meaningful and, above all, educational.
--------------------
Welcome to the brand new Sudoku app from YouTube’s most popular Sudoku channel, Cracking The Cryptic.
Unlike other Sudoku apps, we feature handcrafted and curated puzzles from the world’s best Sudoku constructors. Each collection features puzzles made by various authors that are now familiar names to those who follow the channel. Authors like Phistomefel, Clover, Sam Cappleman-Lynes, Christoph Seeliger, Richard Stolk, jovi_al, Qodec, Prasanna Seshadri and of course, Simon and Mark!
Downloading Cracking the Cryptic will give you access to our two launch packs. Our first free collection is a variety pack by Prasanna Seshadri featuring 7 puzzles inspired from our previous Sudoku apps; Sandwich, Classic, Chess, Thermo, Miracle, Killer and Arrow Sudoku. Our first paid collection is Domino Sudoku, a new variant not featured in our previous apps with puzzles from our amazing constructors.
We’ll be releasing more free and paid packs in the future so keep an eye on the app for more Sudoku content from Cracking The Cryptic!
--------------------
Domino Sudoku
Domino Sudoku is named after its domino-like appearance with X's, V's, white dots and black dots placed between cells on the grid. Each puzzle features one or more of these domino types with them all having a different effect: an X means digits in the two cells in the domino must sum to 10; a V means they sum to 5; a white dot means the digits are consecutive; and, finally, a black dot means the digits must be in a 1:2 ratio (ie one of the digits must be double the other).
As you can imagine, when you allow the world’s best Sudoku makers to use these rules they are in their element and they’ve made another set of masterpieces for this collection with a huge amount of variety! We’re thrilled that Domino Sudoku includes puzzles by Christoph Seeliger, Sam Cappleman-Lynes, Richard Stolk, Prasanna Seshadri, Phistomefel, Qodec, Clover and jovi_al. In addition, Mark and Simon have written hints for the challenging puzzles themselves so these hints are meaningful and, above all, educational.
As a bonus, Studio Goya has curated 10 generated beginner puzzles so that players of all skill levels can enjoy Domino Sudoku!
In Cracking The Cryptic’s games, players start with zero stars and earn stars by solving puzzles. The more puzzles you solve, the more stars you earn and the more puzzles you get to play. Only the most dedicated (and cleverest) sudoku players will finish all the puzzles. Of course the difficulty is carefully calibrated to ensure lots of puzzles at every level (from easy through to extreme).
So do join us as we continue to try to revolutionize Sudoku app genre.

The handmade puzzles and handwritten hints are incredible! I have never felt more satisfaction then cracking a super tough level after 3 cumulative hours. I’m not even a fan of the YouTube channel. One note for devs. Sometimes the coordinates given in handwritten hints are wrong. I found it on 2 off the most recently released levels

Please fix clues!!

I love this app and play it almost every single day, but the lack of editing on the clues is beyond frustrating. Puzzle 45, which I’m replaying today, doesn’t just have a typo, which is unfortunately somewhat common, but clues 2 and 3 are flat out incorrect and will not let you solve the puzzle if you follow them. Also, please include a few clues on the bonus pack puzzles. Valentine’s Day #1 I have never been able to solve without finally having to guess after filling in all possibilities around the grid with the clues given. Please have a tester go through and identify all of the typos. A beginner who is relying on the clues to proceed is going to be very frustrated and give up if they don’t figure out that the row and column numbers were transposed for a given clue.

Excellent app, can’t wait for more puzzles!

I’m really enjoying this app, and (though I’m nowhere near finished with all the puzzles), can’t wait for more! I did want to say, GAS 1 Puzzle 59 has a rule set that doesn’t make sense— I think they just meant to include the even sandwich rule set, not the sandwich rules as well. Also, to my inexperienced eyes, two crossing renban lines (in the shape of an x) initially seemed like one single renban “shape”, so for anyone else who’s found that ambiguous, any same-color lines crossing in the shape of an x are two distinct lines, not one. If highlight errors is turned on, Puzzle 40 in GAS 2 (I believe) marks repeated digits as in cages as incorrect, even though digits in a cage can repeat in this ruleset. These are all minor though- the vast majority of the time, it’s a very smooth, clutter-free sudoku app with very clear rules, and all the features and puzzles you could ask for!

Great game BUT

Love this game and have enjoyed playing it, but need to report an error. GAS#2 puzzle 21 has an inaccurate solution - the arrows in cube 5 do not match the “correct” answer.

Best Sudoku App

You can tell this app is made by sudoku fans as every quality of life feature to be had is present. Watch the makers YouTube channel (also called Cracking The Cryptic) to see how they use it too. It helps!

I’ve spent dozens of hours enjoying these puzzles, and the UI is excellent

Great app, but not colorblind friendly

I love the app, the best Sudoku app I’ve ever used. My only issue is that the themes aren’t colorblind friendly. I noticed this especially on the new valentine’s puzzle. In the light themes it’s hard to see the range of a cell and in the dark themes it’s hard to see the contents of cells in the fortress or moat.

Great app, great puzzles, but it needs one more button

Love CTC and love this app. The voice in my head turns into Simon's every time I play and I love it! These puzzles are so relaxing but also stimulating and satisfying. Is there any way you could add a button to the control panel to un-select all currently selected cells? I frequently want to do this to reduce the visual clutter on the board after I do some pencil marking, so I can take stock of how my markings changed things. Currently I have to reach up into the grid and unselect cells manually. Maybe a config to make holding the multi-select button clear selected cells by default? Or clear selected cells if cells are selected?

Handwritten hints need to be checked for accuracy

Njgwghbggjfcdssxxfbsfbdw on

I love this app and have bought several packs of puzzles. Unfortunately the handwritten hints for some of the puzzles are completely incorrect or very difficult to understand. Puzzle 45 in the lines pack for example has a hint that says row 1 columns 1/2/3 must be either a 1/2/7 or a 1/3/6. Neither of these combos are accurate. The follow up hints to this puzzle then make no sense. I would also appreciate a logical explanation as to why something is true. Many of the puzzles are very difficult and I find the hints to be difficult to determine how I was supposed to get to that next step logically.

Great puzzles and playability, with a couple caveats

Bryan_B on

I love Cracking the Cryptic, and the puzzles they have in the app are truly fantastic. The app has great marking features (two forms of pencil marking and colors) for solving these difficult puzzles as well. However, it eats battery like crazy and has (relatively) few puzzles for the price tag on each pack. Battery Life: 100% battery on my iPhone 14 Pro Max gets drained to ~50% after only a couple hours of play. Puzzle updates: I appreciate that they are hand crafted and manually hinted, but updates are frustratingly few and far between. I would love to play puzzles from videos here instead of Sudoku Pad (which doesn’t always import correctly), even without hints, for more content and variety.
