DASH lowers blood pressure — particularly if you have elevated levels — and may aid weight loss. It could reduce your risk of diabetes, heart disease, metabolic syndrome and some cancers.
Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, or DASH, is a diet recommended for people who want to prevent or treat hypertension — also known as high blood pressure — and reduce their risk of heart disease.
The DASH diet focuses on fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats.
Benefits:
- Decreases cancer risk:
A recent review indicated that people following the DASH diet had a lower risk of some cancers, including colorectal and breast cancer.
- Lowers metabolic syndrome risk:
Some studies note that the DASH diet reduces your risk of metabolic syndrome by up to 81%
- Lowers diabetes risk:
The diet has been linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. Some studies demonstrate that it can improve insulin resistance as well.
- Decreases heart disease risk:
In one recent review in women, following a DASH-like diet was associated with a 20% lower risk of heart disease and a 29% lower risk of stroke.

Over the years, I have become more and more aware of my diet and how to prevent disease. I have been learning about and appreciate that the DASH approach is not a fad and really focuses on health. This app is turning out to be a great resource on my journey to becoming healthier. Going into the fall, I am starting to make bigger changes and
Amazing
I had no idea my family was alusey doing the Dash diet all of these years. This way of eating has helped me keep 80 pounds off for almost 20 years. This app is a great addition to my cookapp collection. It is a common sense way of eating- taking healthy ingredients and keeping them interesting and familiar enough so that it isn't too scary.
Well app
This app has 6 weeks of meal prep ideas and dozens of recipes. Each week of meal prep starts with a recipe list, shopping list and list of supplies needed for that week such as a sheet pan or muffin pan liners. There are also instructions for what to prep or preprep for that week.
Very good
This app has some interesting recipes. As a Type 2 diabetic, not all recipes were good for me, but I do find some good ones, for example, last night we ate Sheet Pan Chicken and Roasted Vegetables. I made 1/2 a recipe for my husband and I and it was satisfying. In that recipe I subbed butternut squash for sweet potatoes. For me the meal plans are a joke.
