The Divine Office App is an opportunity for you to participate in the recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours, an ancient and meditative collection of psalms, hymns and scripture that represent the public prayer of the Christian community.
If you are unable to pray in community, but love the contentment of praying with others, a praised feature of the Divine Office App lets you view locations where other Christians around the world are simultaneously praying with you.
This version is the official prayer book of the Catholic Church, however, it is suitable for all Christian faith traditions. It contains the official text and audio of daily prayers from the Liturgy of the Hours of the Roman Catholic Church (Breviary) and has been approved for use in the United States by USCCB.
The Divine Office App is designed to make praying more convenient, enjoyable, and simple enough for anyone to use. It automatically downloads the appropriate prayers for each office, every day of the year, including Solemnities, Feasts, and Memorials.
When St. Paul advises us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing,” he intends more than simply bowing our heads and speaking to God on a regular basis. He means for us to adopt an ongoing attitude of prayer that is a way of life and a constant intercession for the salvation of all mankind.
As the mystical body of Christ prays in unison, it fulfills what Paul advises as Christian conduct, that believers at once pray for the good of themselves, their neighbors, and the world. In this way, prayers become liturgy, a way to fulfill our divine calling and a practical approach for addressing the suffering of the world.

Polished but lacking
Beautiful presentation of audio content. But does not incorporate daily saints into readings like the Universalis app does. Nor does it incorporate various global Church calendars nor allow one to choose which calendar they would prefer to use. Appears to be primarily an app for following the American Church calendar so isn’t really so useful for people from other countries.
Simplest way to pray
I briefly checked out the iBreviary, and considered getting the Word on Fire subscription, but this free app is the most thorough and simple option out there. Thank you so much for making this!
I once tried to pray every prayer, and for the two weeks I attempted to do this, I—a terminally anxious and depressed person—was just full of joy. The main trick is ensuring that one’s schedule can be ordered around the prayers.
None like this app
If you want to practice divine hours, this app is for you. It’s free.
A laypersons helper
I have used this app for many years and it has enabled me to join in the prayer of our church
I listen while reading the palms and prayers from the Breviary and I know I’m in the right place thanks
Just like it always was without fumbling through pages. I love it
Great
Play feature is nice
Sometimes just resting with the prayer is nice. Otherwise, I read from the books. I do like the music credits and links. Overall, a very thoughtful app.
Praying with the Universal Church
This app is awesome. During the Covid lockdown, I was in Manila to take care of my younger sister in the hospital. When the outbreak happened, we were sent home. There was a seminary within walking distance from her home and the director was kind enough to open their gates to me. So, I would pray the Divine Office with the seminarians on mornings when I was able. This app is like that seminary opening their gates.
Best Liturgy of the Hours
I have several Divine Office apps. I find this one the best. Easiest to follow. Accurate translation.
Monastic life for lay people
Very useful if you want to do « monk life » but not join a monastery!
Super helpful
This app is perfect for me starting to use the divine office. I love how it also has audio for learning the melody of unfamiliar hymns and a short blurb about different feast days and their significance with a beautiful picture that evokes that saint.
