Energy strategy

.Andreja.D. on

I have been using Duolingo for years, and this new energy system is really demotivating and frustrating. I truly hope you will bring back the old system. This is terrible. And although I used to have a subscription in the past, I will never get one again after this change. Very disappointing.

love it

In Duolingo you can play piano, speak german, do math and chess but for all you need energy. You can buy Super Doulingo to have limited energy and video call. 🫶🏻😻

Downgraded

I really did my best, I‘m on a day 1777 but your constant „improvements“ were actually making the app worse and worse. Now, finally with this energy instead of hearts, you made the app unusable. Best of luck, it’s a shame for real.

Energy update is the worst

Anaaaaaa1992 on

The only reason I’m giving 2/5 and not 1 is out of respect for the old Duolingo which I loved and played constantly, allowing me to learn quickly. This new energy update is frustrating and demotivating as it only allows around 3 lessons per day. Please bring back the hearts! 🙏🏻

The new energy system

evaerstic on

Croatia

I love duolingo but this new energy system is making me so mad, i can do one lesson a day ,sometimes two, which is stopping me from making progress, i have to watch tons of ads and when i am done with that i dont even feel like playing anymore, as someone who is not able to upgrade duolingo to duolingo super or max i might delete duolingo because of this new update, please give us heart system back.

Cancel the energy

You were the only app who offer real teaching for free for who cannot afford it. The life system was perfect to reword the best allowing them s To study more and progress faster. Now with the energy lever no matter how good you are after max two lessons you have to stop! This is ridiculous. You guys fell in the money trap. I am really sad for this system, shame on you.

Disappointing Changes Ruin the Learning Experience

Knez2105 on

Croatia

I’ve been using Duolingo for years (1187-day streak and counting), and I’ve always appreciated how the app made language learning engaging and accessible. However, the recent changes have completely undermined that experience. Previously, users had 5 hearts and could practice endlessly by maintaining accuracy or reviewing old material. Now, with the new "battery" system, energy is drained no matter how well you do. You’re limited to just a few lessons—even if you make no mistakes. That completely kills the motivation to learn. One of Duolingo’s strengths was encouraging consistent practice and immersion. With these new restrictions, it’s impossible to progress or stay competitive in the leagues without paying or constantly waiting for energy to refill. Despite using the app daily, I’m now struggling to maintain my league position, which never used to be an issue. I’m seriously reconsidering whether to continue using Duolingo at all. Please bring back the old system or at least let active, committed users choose a learning mode that supports real progress..

Great app for learning Spanish! Just wish I could cancel a streak invite if someone doesn’t accept.

Hearts update

Lllllaaaarrrrrraaaa on

Removing hearts and getting the energy bar which you use up even when you have perfect lessons is crazy. Are you that desperate for money??
