Good app for learning, but very annoying all those XP boosts which in a way drags you in to spend more time in the app, especially recently when they extended them to almost 40 minutes. I know that it’s my choice to continue learning or not and it’s your agenda to keep people logged in so that you could increase your profits, but it’s not really healthy, especially for people who get dragged into these kinds of “games” easily. It would be a nice improvement if you would give an opportunity for the users to decide themselves, when they want to use those XP boosts, at least most of the time. Thank you!

The update ruined Duolingo

Because they replaced lives with energy I can’t do a lot of lessons now I only did three but when there was lives I did 2 units in one sitting

Energy is stupid

zekiss2 on

Lithuania

The new energy system is dumb and feels forcing people to subscribe. And then there’s super and max. Why can’t it be basic version with some (a little) ads and premium version with additional features and no ads. Now it’s plain annoying, ads are long, not relevant and so many of them. Sure, sometimes I can watch a few ads to recharge energy but by the time it’s full - bonus exp runs out of time. I’m looking into other alternatives, it’s gone too far down the hill with Duolingo. Good luck developers with your monetary thirst - you’ve ruined one of the best and fun apps.

Charge

Alex_GomelBy on

In the last update they came up with some kind of charge, it's a fiasco, it became uninteresting and repulsive. I got the impression that the developers are doing everything to make users buy an expensive subscription. If they don't return everything back in the next update, my friends and I will switch to alternative applications, it's good that there are a lot of such applications now. We are very disappointed, what a stupid person came up with this...

Please do better

Very sad to see Duolingo’s downfall with all the new features: heavy AI usage, pushing you to buy subscriptions and especially the energy. What is even the point of hearts if you can’t even complete 2-3 lessons fully without having to pay, buying a premium plan or watching a video for 5 measly pieces of energy. So so disappointed… Clearly you should pay more attention to your users wishes instead of posting memes on ig. Please old Duolingo come back, we miss you

If it could teach to write in the language it could be awesome

Greedy

So unfortunate that you’ve come to these kinds of measures for people to pay for your subscriptions. Battery health, really? I cannot finish legendary lessons if I get one or two answers wrong. And then what? I need to wait or watch ads? It used to be such an amazing app for learning, but now with the ads, battery health and all you’ve made it into one of those annoying games, where you watch more ads than play the actual game. Such a shame

pretty good

i had duolingo for around 6 years, i started learning german and i can say a lot sentences. i like the app, i just dont like how we start learning how to say “coffee” “water” “bread” and ect., but not “hello” “good morning” “good evening” and ect. i also dont like the new battery system, in my opinion the heart one was wayyy better

App updates annoying

SGR1980 on

Lithuania

After app was updated from hearts life to battery energy it got complicated to progress/lear because it runs out of juice fast and you can not complete lessons. I don’t like latest update because it adds energy randomly so with full battery you can complete 2 lessons if you answer correctly. So they push to use paid version.
