Due to Google’s discontinuation of Nest 1st-generation support and the Nest App’s end after October 2025, I replaced my Nest 1st-generation thermostat with the EcoBee Smart Thermostat Premium. I chose EcoBee for its compatibility with Apple HomeKit and Hubitat. Installing the EcoBee was easy, and integrating it into both ecosystems was seamless. In general, I am satisfied with my purchase. However, I do regret that I am missing several Nest features, including “Nest Airwave,” which circulates cold air after an AC shutdown, and Nest’s user-friendly scheduling functionality for adjusting temperatures throughout the day. Additionally, I find the ease of access to these features to be lacking.

Sometimes you need to turn your AC/heat off and open some windows to clear out smoke or paint fumes or other chemicals. How the heck is this eco friendly if it requires heating and cooling at all times. Countless other problems with this anything-but-smart device/app.

App literally erased all my thermostats at home and not allowing me to re-add them… Total inconvenience

Never connects properly, what’s the point of an app if I need to get up and go change the thermostat on the wall.

The whole point of a smart home device is being able to control it remotely. I just tried for 5 minutes to adjust the temperature set for the thermostat so it would kick on to cool while sitting in another room, and nothing happened after waiting several minutes. But when i walked to the unit and adjusted the temperature setting the a/c immediately kicked on. This suggests I cannot rely on adjusting the temperature (or humidity since I have a dehumidifier commected as an accessory). However that’s the reason I invested I the smart home technology. Very disappointing. Next day seems like the Eco+ setting was enabled NOT by me. And my schedule was completely removed. Starting to have problems with what was a great product/service/app.

The app is resisting to change ecobe+ settings , manually not possible to adjust when ecobee is active. Last nail on the coffin that it automatically stopped cooling to save grid 😂 and i am really not joking or conspiracy theorist

I’ve had ecobee for about four years now I live in a two-story home and for whatever reason you can’t combine two different thermostats into one home. And what I mean by that is when you get your data to review how efficient your home was it seems to think one thermostat is one home and another thermostat is another home even though the group together within a home. Which leads to very poor data gathering. Secondly, I recently made some changes to try in further my efficiency in my home and ever since the change change the schedule when the AC comes on, etc. it stops collecting it altogether.

I hope programming will get easier

Yet again EcoBee app won't open and is having issues. Last time it wouldn't recognize data now it won't open at all.
