Description

Freedom to communicate on your own terms
For individuals and communities - private communication between family, friends, hobby groups, clubs, etc.
Element X gives you fast, secure and private instant messaging and video calls built on Matrix, the open standard for real-time communication. This is a free and open-source app maintained at https://github.com/element-hq/element-x-ios
Stay in touch with friends, family and communities with:
• Real time messaging & video calls
• Public rooms for open group communication
• Private rooms for closed group communication
• Rich messaging features: emoji reactions, replies, polls, pinned messages and more.
• Video calling while browsing messages.
• Interoperability with other Matrix-based apps such as FluffyChat, Cinny and many more.
Privacy-first
Unlike some other messengers from Big Tech companies, we don’t mine your data or monitor your communications.

Own your conversations
Choose where to host your data - from any public server (the largest free server is matrix.org, but there are plenty of others to choose from) to creating your own personal server and hosting it on your own domain. This ability to choose a server is a large part of what differentiates us from other real time communication apps. However you host, you have ownership; it’s your data. You’re not the product. You’re in control.
Communicate in real time, all the time
Use Element everywhere. Stay in touch wherever you are with fully synchronised message history across all your devices, including on the web at https://app.element.io
Element X is our next-generation app
If you’re using the original Element app, it’s time to try Element X! It’s faster, easier to use, and more powerful than the original app. It’s better in every way and we’re adding new features all the time.

FlexTV Reviews

No external auth

United States

My account is authenticated with Google, so I actually cannot log in to this client to even try it. Once that gets added, I'll probably change my review.

Buggy

GGonJR on

United States

It is buggy and missing a ton of options the original Element app had. I’m going back until they get rid of the original Element.

Kinda ridiculous omission

Basic but very solid

rxc4k on

United States

The functionality is still relative basic and is no match for Element yet. However it performs extremely well and actually feels like a native UI; things that are implemented are solid.

Some bad experiences

tomorjreey on

United States

When will element X support one-to-one voice and video calls like element? This X client always prompts me to verify the key. I have already verified it. Sometimes I have to verify it again. It is really annoying. It also keeps getting stuck on the verification interface. I have to uninstall the app to log out. This logic is so stupid.

Huge improvement in UX but comes with a loss of some functionality

FangMaxxer on

United States

The app looks and runs amazing, but there is no user management nor message search, so I need to keep the old element installed for more advanced actions. PLEASE restore the “Modern” message UI, the app would be a 5 for me if that was brought back; the bubbles take up too much screen space for my taste!

Missing Features

Ifjjdkfihsns on

United States

It’s missing the ability to manage sessions, security settings, basically do anything that you would expect a matrix client to do except show messages. Will increase rating when more basic features are added.

Can't get past recovery key screen

RafeLangston on

United States

Created and saved my recovery key but it just pops up a warning about saving it. Can't get past this point.

Too much is missing

antiVoldy on

United States

I’m trying to embrace this for my teams but there’s too much missing for this to be a viable solution for them. Why can’t I just see a list of channels grouped in their spaces? Why can’t I pin a post? Matrix is great. The app ecosystem is not.
