A nice DM tool

But as a Chinese user, I still found it’s so difficult to work a web server, it could work well in local, but failed for public. And for the map share with image, I always just to show a part of the map to my PLs, but encounter+ just supports to capture the whole map as an image, so I had to use the screenshot with iPad. So would you like to make a change to support another image share for a part of the map?

Marvelous

Excellent app, very clean and easy to use. Would highly recommend to anyone playing D&D online, or in-person if you are using an external screen to present battle maps. Free version is excellent for initiative tracking and as a resource for looking up monster stats, and the payed features are well worth it!

Disappointing

So I have been using this for a while and have loved it. I just did the new update and now it does not work. I have it on my ipad and IMac. It still works on the Ipad, but not the IMac. I reinstalled it on the IMac, but it will not download the info I stored in the cloud from the Ipad. it gets half way there and hangs.

Where’s my map?

One update and the entire map is gone! Thanks a lot!

This app is great.

The free version is good. But the Subscription is EPIC! Well worth the yearly price if you play DnD online on a regular basis. The developer is dead focused and has a crack team of moderators on Discord to help you with ANYTHING!!! just try it...

Not bad

Very useful and pliable tool for D&D night with friends around a table or online. An Isometric feature would be a nice feature to include for detailed maps. Adding character models as tokens needs work. The process of adding players and setting up local group connectivity can be made simpler as well. Lot of good things about the app but it still needs work.

The missing tool for every DM out there!

Random encounter generator? Check. Easy initiative and health tracking? Check. Ability to quickly create/store/edit/deploy homebrew monsters and spells? Check. Hate doing math and want HP tracked for you, or XP divided up amongst the party after combat easily? Check. Then you have the ability to have the battle map run right through the app WITH dynamic lighting to really give your players that next level of immersion. This is the app you didn’t know you needed to take your DMing skills to the next level.

Extremely powerful tool with a steep learning curve

Braedon Lowey on

As far as the app’s functions go, five stars for sure. It runs games smoothly, and I don’t think there’s been a single time where I’ve thought, “Darn, I wish this app could do this.” However, I find getting into the finer aspects of it to have a pretty steep learning curve and not a lot of tutorials or support for that. It takes a lot of experimentation and practicing to figure out how to get around a lot of the bumps. (For example, if you use the “Place Party” button, it wipes every other creature out of the encounter. If I learned this mid-session, it would have ground everything to a halt.) The app has the capability to run things smoothly and efficiently, and make it really easy to get your players involved in combat and exploration. However, it takes a lot of time to learn how to navigate and utilize all of its features effectively, due to strange (and occasionally straight up bad) cause-and-effect chains. More intuitive UI and buttons would bring this to five stars for me, but definitely still worth the subscription as is!
