ESV Bible Reviews

App needs important features

TCB777-mymail on

I am a fan of the ESV version but the app needs an important feature to be added. For notes added to scriptures, please add an icon next to that verse to indicate that a note has been made and a tap of the icon should open the note.

Needs update

Thankful for the app. Just adding to the growing list that the chapter selection is very inconsistent and rarely works the first time. Seems like some update needs to happen.

What is wrong with people these days? Monthly subscription.

Subscription models are horrible in a lifetime that’s over $3350 and of course inflation they would continue to raise the price for sure if you invested that money you would have huge amount all the voices that aren’t extremely annoying. You have to pay for their subscription. I’ve grown up as a Missionary my entire life I have been evangelizing and helping the poor as an MK and built over 30 churches myself, but I often only make about $5000 a year. How in the world can I afford to pay four dollars a month? May the Lord dude justice to you for your greediness

I love this version of The Bible! A Blessing!

I love that I can listen to it. I also love the fact that it has cross-references all throughout scripture. It is truly a blessing to have that feature available. It also has beautiful art designs before every chapter. It is very interactive - my favorite version.

Issues

L+R+L on

United States

I have used this app for a couple years, but it has recently had some issues. First is it does not always go to the book/chapter you select from the drop down menu. For example: I selected Nahum 1, but it continued to take me to the book of Micah. Next, it does not give you the history of what you have read. For a while it was showing me a very old history that would not update. After clearing it, there is now nothing shown even after going to several new passages. When it was working the history was a very helpful feature, like keeping your finger in a page to flip back and forth. Lastly, if you add a note to a text you will not see any indication of that note when scrolling through the passage. Notes can be found under the Notes tab, but this is not helpful if you are rereading a passage that you have already written a note for that is now hidden! A while ago a note was indicated by the verse number being slightly shaded. That was very useful. If these features were updated/restored I believe this app would once again be a favorite of mine!

Buggy!

cbrynt on

United States

You have to go to a verse twice before it works. If you choose book, chapter, verse, it simply goes to where it already was. Do it a second time and it works. Fix that and you’ll be good to go.

Great app, lacking “repeat function”

I love the new updates this last year. The only thing it’s missing is the ability to listen to chunks of scripture or even one verse on repeat.

Sometimes the bells and whistles of other Bible apps distract me from digging into the word itself. This app does a great job of focusing me. I turned off verse numbers & footnotes and found myself reading through the New Testament in a new light. Connections are easier to see when it’s a simple block of text.

Selection problem

qzpfbidjecnnfidtdcnkfdxv on

United States

I love this app. There appears to be a problem in selecting book and chapter: it reverts back to the previous selection. Each time, I am having to make my selection twice before success. This problem is a recent development, several months ago.
