Favourite bible app because of the simple layout, font, concordance at “one tap” - my new go to!
Search does not work - a core feature for such an app - try searching for 'Father' , whole Bible, and see there a no results in the new testament. Frustrating, to the point I do not use this app now, choosing to read the ESV (my preferred version), in other apps. (11 May 2024)
As someone who struggles with dyslexia. It is really helpful to have someone read the Bible to you. The voices are great and the music choices are really gorgeous. They help to make the Bible feel more approachable. I also love having access to the commentaries and notes which help in writing children’s talks. Thanks you folks for this great resource!
I’ve been listening with profit to the ESV daily readings by Ray Ortlund since the beginning of the year. Originally they were released at 06:00 GMT each day, but now aren’t available until after 08:00 GMT. I live in Scotland and that two-hour difference is significant for me. Since I assume the podcasts are prepared in advance, would it be possible to revert to the 06:00 release time, please? The daily readings are a great way to start the day.
I have been using the ESV Bible App since it’s release. With the recently new update there are lots of changes which I personally believe improve the experience. Top marks for its focus on the Word with minimal clutter, very easy on the eye and yet access to more information and support if so required. On the whole the app is clear, elegant & intuitive with many many well thought through features. There are however a few areas of frustration which I believe let the app down at this point. There seems to be many annoying glitches (or idiosyncrasies) where the app will reset itself, or not show correct information (there’s not enough room to list them all here), notes are no longer visible from the biblical text, highlighting text is limited and like others have mentioned the subscription fee is rather steep. I’ve taken their reduced 12 months offer with the hope things will improve by the end of the year. Let’s hope the Crossway team keep up and on the ball with this app because imho this has the potential to be the best Bible app available with the great English Standard translation!
The new improved App is a great step forward. The print is clearer, easier to read. The new layout of the App is an improvement. I’m not a fan of subscriptions … I would prefer to make a one off payment for a study Bible, a Commentaries, or a narrator etc. For some, $40 year is a big commitment … Is a rethink possible? Would it be possibly to have subscriptions for those who wish to access everything and the option of making one off payments for others who only require some items?
It’s actually quite like Dwell app now and I backed out of that because it was going into meditation with music. Im not sure about music served up with everything. Actually I am, it’s a distraction and not good if you’re a bit deaf. Glad it’s not compulsory. I’ve used the app a long time and loved Kirstyns gentle voice for free or maybe I made a one off payment. I don’t remember. . Now I’ve got a new device and when I downloaded from my back up the app has changed. Presumably just timed with an update. But now I have to subscribe for lots of extra stuff I don’t need and I’ve lost the one thing I wanted, my reader of joice who is now behind a paywall. Annoyed , you’re following the ways of the world I’m going to subscription models. Meditation. Chewing over the word and discussing it, not some relaxing mind emptied or at least distracted state due to music. I’m sorry I’m getting it all off my chest while I have your attention. ! Could we have access to the classic version please!?
It’s about time crossways updated and invested more in the app. I’m very happy to see this updated today, late Christmas present. Please can you make the highlighting a little more dynamic, being able to highlights words of sentences, rather than whole verses. God bless guys. Brother Danny Knight
Why change a good thing? The latest update has completely changed the layout n the iPad and not for the better. This is just a case of change for change sake. And why do we now need to create an account - there is no need to impose that. Having used this App for a long time I will now be deleting it and using another one.
Best Bible app I’ve had so far. I’m not sure why so little reviews. It’s really great. Choose font, size, colour, and also in the app settings you can opt to see God’s Word in red writing. There’s nothing I would complain about. It’s really well laid out. It has bookmarks and highlighting. It’s super easy to use. Literally nothing to complain about. Great app.
