New Update RUINED the app/ rip Everand

aer1* on

I used to love everand. It had many great titles in an unlimited amount of listens per month. I was excited to hear they were going to be offering more titles from larger authors. I’d have happily paid a bit more monthly if they’d kept the unlimited titles per month for their entire catalog. Now only having 3 credits per month feels like they have just gotten greedy and are now charging way more for less. It feels like I’m paying for a slightly less expensive audible subscription. I’m really disappointed as this doesn't compare to audible where I own the digital file. This is the equivalent of a lease. I’m considering canceling my subscription as I feel cheated by this update out of the app and audiobook subscription service I originally subscribed to. Also I’m tired of the glitchiness and frequency of unavailable content when it comes towards the end of a billing cycle. It’s underhanded and poor business practice. Do better everand. Update: I got a response from the developer and I'm even more frustrated now. Since they don't even acknowledge that even with the three credits the app glitches and doesn't load properly. If your looking for an alternative in the US or other countries; Anyplay is great and has a similar selection but is only 11.99 through their website and is actually unlimited no credits. Or if your outside the US; Storytel is amazing and is similar with no credits and an unlimited catalog. I go through 3 books a week. It doesn't make sense for me to subscribe to Everand any more. I've officially canceled my subscription. I'll be back when they go back to an unlimited catalog with no credits.

This blows

The new plans are a way to scam you into buying books without giving you the books. Just go to Audible instead.

Less for more

Unlock subscription model seems to be less content for more money. I’m three days past the date. I was supposed to get new locks a few days ago and they still haven’t renewed. So far radio silence from the developer on my service ticket.

Completely different app

JasmineMou on

I have subscribed to this app for a year, was told that if I upgrade it will let me unlock ‘premium’ titles. Since my subscription was through Apple I had to make an entirely new account. When I got in the new account I found out you had to unlock EVERYTHING. I have so many that are still ‘free’ on my other account but are now considered ‘premium’. Definitely will be canceling my subscription unless this is fixed. Truly not worth it.

Use to be good

This was my favorite book app. You paid your fee and got unlimited access. But now the most you can unlock is two a month. I won’t renew my subscription after this month. It’s just like Audiable.

USED to be a decent app- now they are just plain NOT worth their price! Greedy!

Mandiac Magee on

I USED to love Scribd/Everand, especially because there was no set limit on the books I could read-if I didn’t like a book, I simply unsaved it and tried another. Now? I pay SEVENTEEN dollars for THREE books a month- and they don’t rollover if you don’t finish them, and if they turn out to be crappy, you’re stuck with them. SUPPOSEDLY they have an unlimited category that are accessible all the time, whereas the other category is “premium”- which is just utter B.S because MOST of their books are under this category. I was looking for a simple “how to draw” book under their unlimited category, and couldn’t find ONE. I’ve been a customer for several years, and recommended the app to several family members and friends. But seeing as kindle unlimited lets you have TEN books at a time for 11.99, as well as magazines, and then you can return the book and select another when finished- you’re not stuck with the books for the whole month- I think I’ll be canceling my subscription with Everand. It’s simply NOT worth it. I’m disgusted with their greed. Update: Ironically, I was charged 16.99 this month and received ZERO unlocks- so not sure exactly what I was charged for when I can’t access anything but podcasts- reached out to customer service on the 27th, still haven’t heard anything back. So now I’m going to have at least five days less, if they even remedy the problem. I really hope I can find a different subscription soon, because I read way more than three books a month, and I don’t want to pay for a service I’m not even getting. But thanks for the cookie cutter fake response.

Don't like the "history bar" in the app.

Can you remove or change the formatting of the "history bar", I don't know what to call it, in the app at the top of the screen? It blocks words when I'm trying to read a book and it's annoying. Only a two star rating until that gets changed.

New subscription update is trash

This used to be my favorite app but the new update made it just like every other audiobook app.

Used to be amazing

EmiNoelle on

I have used Scribd/Everand for years! I never had an issue until this new subscription changes. I am paying $17 a month and can’t even now only read a very limited amount of books. Every title used to be included in the membership price but now almost no titles are included unless you use 1 of 3 unlocks you get a month. I am an Avid reader and read about 10-15 books a month. These new changes make using this app miserable. I am saddened that you couldn’t just raise the price and keep the unlimited books. I would 100% say don’t pay for this app because it is not worth it!
