A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT
I wanted to love this game. I really did. Fusing iconic titles like Zelda and Final Fantasy? Paying homage to the consoles that made gaming what it is today? Brilliant! Alas, Evoland 2 is evidence that a great idea is nothing without proper execution. Never mind the cheesy dialogue and the shallow story. Or the one-dimensional battle system - if the hero’s single sword sweep even qualifies as one. The character control is where it all goes south. Why on earth would you include classic platform and shoot ‘em up mini games when the controls are as responsive as a sloth on Valium? Plus isn’t this supposed to an RPG? And not Super Mario meets Space Invaders? I hope a different developer picks up the idea and create the game that Evoland 2 should have been. What do you say, Square?
