Allot for your money
One of my fav games on iOS.
The only thing that drags it down is that the retro sections where you have a on screen d-pad to control your directions is terrible. More than half of the time it doesn’t register your inputs, making segments like the Guitar Hero challenges near impossible to beat. Only way to pass is to cheat it by rotating the directional pad around in a circle until it’s over.
Also the Battle Cards matches can be a bit unresponsive, when you drag and drop cards they sometimes don’t want to obey and act like they’re stuck in glue.
Fix that and it will be flawless!
Awesome!
I enjoyed the first Evoland as a cute and creative celebration to the games of my youth. Evoland 2 raised the bar significally. In depth and well thought out story with lots of easter eggs and memories from the games I grew up with. Not only notes and reminders of that wonderful time but full sections of gameplay in that manner. Love the game and I hope the Evoland team decides to develop a third game.
Impossible to complete with phone
I LOVED almost every part of this game, but unfortunately I’m never going to be able to finish it, since there’s one task that’s impossible to get through when playing on phone (I’m using iOS). I’m guessing this is nearly at the end of the game, where I got stuck trying to defeat boss Magus. The task is built up kind of like guitar hero, where you need to hit flaming balls, coming at your characters in 4 rows, at the right time. Using a gaming controller or a key board, I’m guessing this is super easy (I’ve been watching a lot of walkthroughs trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong). However, on phone, the developer has placed a cross shaped “controller” on the bottom LEFT side of the screen, with no markers. This controller is TINY. I mean, my hands are small, but is still impossible to hit all the right “buttons” when there’s several flaming balls coming at once. And even if there’s only one flame coming at a time, the controller is still extremely unresponsive and it’s still easy to hit the wrong button. Even if the controller was bigger, why place it on the left side of the screen? I have to hold the phone with ONE hand, since I can’t reach the controller with my right thumb. Since I got through all the past challenges in the game, I wonder if this is some kind of mistake the developer made which hasn’t been overseen yet? I would recommend this game to everyone NOT playing on phone. Everyone who loves adventure games and nostalgic games. It’s a smart, well designed game with a well-written (and sometimes hilarious) manuscript. I’m so sad I didn’t get to finish it.
Had to drop it towards the end
This is a decent game, it’s playable and definitely a huge improvement over evoland 1, for one there’s an actual story, albeit something of a frankenstein patchwork.
Some might claim it’s a fresh experience and funny to go through a game that takes various game styles and even times and melds them together into something that is the very embodiment of clichés from all types of games, mainly japanese ones. I feel like it’s just that, a ball of clichés that we’ve seen many times before, it was interesting at first to see it making fun of old games but then you realize you’ve seen it all before and it just turns increasingly boring. Especially since the developers seem to stop putting the same effort into the game as before with interactive parts of the environment and details like that. When a game is done like this, you need to try your very best to make it a good parody and poke fun at everything all the time to make it a fun thing to play, but while they try sometimes, it’s rarely funny.
We’re essentially going over the same places over and over again, both in the same and other timelines. This was getting increasingly frustrating as the game continued, it starts to become hard to know where to go with so many choices and where there were once just a few choices, all of a sudden there are many where you might or might not progress the story. There is no tracking to tell us where to go or what to do, instead we’re often forced to spend incredible amounts of time going over everything again and again, trying to find something new. They simply fail to realize that even if they want to show some old school games, they need to make it easier to play than those old school games, we don’t live in an age where we can accept that games make us waste copious amounts of time on nothing, it used to be okay because we didn’t know any better and didn’t have anything better to compare it with, but it’s simply unacceptable in a modern game even if they want to imitate some aspects and even graphics of old games.
The overall story just turns boring, it’s not interesting and with how annoying it is to progress the story, it just gets worse over time.
The mini-games or different combat/game modes were decent at first, but you’ll often find that they become more obnoxious over time. Being forced to play various old mini games and win to progress is incredibly frustrating at times. Actually, one of the things that made me almost throw my phone into the wall several times
OMG best game ever
I have only played four 2 hours its a
this game is so good!
I like hon you dig the game of Cards, I was almost stuck at the old man at the library😅
One showstopping problem
This is another lovely adventure full of jokes and references. But I cannot play it on the iPad (regular size). The touch control for movement I imagine was designed for a phone but on a larger screen it is so imprecise with a huge dead area in the middle. After dying repeatedly because of this control it just gets frustrating to play.
Perfect!
I’ve been playing this game for a total of five hours now and I’ve got to say that this is exactly what I was looking for. The different gamemodes makes the game very well-paced and the story provides a logical explanation for the changes in graphics. The controls are bit awkward from time to time, but I didn’t expect anything else from a game that aims to give the player a completely new gaming experience every hour of playing. The world is beautiful and exciting from all it’s angels. Loved the Minecraft crafting table in the smithing cave :)
Jätte bra retro inslag
Bästa spelet jag har spelat. Och jag gillar den odetaljerade grafiken
Best game on the app store
You fixed the saving issues, and so quickly! Best game and developers ever! 😃
