Portal from Facebook

So sad to hear this is being stopped. I use it remotely to change my parents who don’t deal in technology. To lose this feature and ease of operation it’s depressing. This is the best app ever for the device.

It's pity that the company that built a great product for everyone with remote older relatives, decided to phase it out. You have failed us one time after another.

Just had a notification to inform me the app will no longer be available after the 31st January2025 and to download content! How am I supposed to download content when I can’t even access the app to download anything! I’ve tried all trouble shooting online! But nothing is working!!! Very disappointed please fix this before the app closes

Each of our family has the Facebook portal and we will have loads of photographs that we have loaded up using the Portal app. What an earth will happen now as I’ve just received a message saying that the Portal app is being discontinued in January 2025, which is only a month away !

I bought a portal for my mum in lockdown because we are a military family living all over the world and like most people we couldn’t get to see our elderly Mum/Mam-gu. She has since had a stroke and is confined to a chair and loves to sit and watch all our memories on her portal. I call her on the portal and chat with her, although her speech isn’t good now it’s wonderful to be able to see her. She’s never had a smart phone or tablet, but her portal enables us to see her and her family growing up. Her grandchildren call her on the portal and it brings her great joy watching all her photos of her grandchildren growing up. It’s been a real lifeline for us.

I purchased 4 portals for my family and each of them has stopped showing any new photos. Meta doesn’t offer any product support. Very poor and equally frustrating.

Doesn’t even open, crashes every time. The portal itself is decent though.

Some security conscious people such as myself have extremely long and complicated passwords generated by a password manager which makes them almost impossible to copy / paste. Mine is about 128 chars long. We used to be able to link the portal via a code but that’s since been removed 🙄 The app should allow pasting / typing in from The keyboard so that things can be pasted such as long passwords inside the password field when connecting accounts. I’m surprised it’s missing to be fair, it’s basic functionality after all!

Love seeing them come on it’s easy to manage and lovely to view
