Families is designed to operate in conjunction with Legacy Family Tree, the leading Windows-based genealogy software from Millennia Corp. Your Legacy family files can be easily transferred to your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, enabling them to be viewed and edited wherever you are. Families supports the following functionality:

Families uses a highly efficient database implementation, allowing very large family files to be supported. Users have successfully displayed and edited files containing over 300,000 individuals on an iPhone.

Families requires access to a Wi-Fi network or use of a USB connection in order to transfer family files between your device and your PC.

Families requires a companion program running on the PC to transfer family files to and from the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This program, Families Sync, can be downloaded free of charge from www.telgen.co.uk/families/sync.

Legacy on an ipad

I have been using the families app for a number of years now because I use Legacy family tree software and this app is a companion piece of software that enables me to have my family tree on an ipad.

Families - a must have app!

An excellent app for all genealogists. Simple to use and easy to update as you travel around . Nice clear data and pictures, well worth it!

Excellent

Works extremely well with Legacy data files allowing you to import details of all individuals, including all research notes and photographs. An excellent app for taking your complete family tree with you at all times. Can't understand negative comments, and no, I have no connections with TelGen.

Families problems

This app will sync family history from my PC, but crashes every time I try to insert any further information on my 2G iPod Touch using OS 4. The app would be great if this problem were fixed.

crash!!!

help plz. plz update it as it crashes all the time. spend £9 on it and don't want to received the software like this. want the money back.

I was really excited and liked this app. I input 85 entries but the system crashed whenever I used the not living button. Then it crashed and would not open at all. I synced it with my PC and it showed the info in the text summary but I can't view the data on the PC in a meaningful way. Had to reinstall the app on the phone to open it and lost all my data At £9 this is the dearest app I have bought and I am disappointed.

First Impressions

I have just downloaded this App, so have not yet plumbed it's depths ! So far I like it. It can be a bit difficult sometimes getting it to switch first time to what I want due to my large manly fingertips and the small area of display. Take the example above of JFK and his wife. To the left of Jackie's photo it says "S 1 of 2". This indicates how many spouses she has had and that JFK was her 1st. Touching this takes you to her second husband, i.e. "S 2 of 2" On my Touch this is a very small display and it is difficult to "touch" just this "S 1 of 2", and not the info above. But this is a limitation due to the screen size, and my large fingertips so I can't blame TelGen. One possible problem I have noticed is, curiously, with this same display. With one of my ancestors who had 2 wives, when I touch "S 1 of 2", it switches to display his second wife but shows "S 3 of 2" ?? Has anyone else this prob ?

Dissapointed.

It does have some functionality, but really lacks in slick user interface. Also keeps crashing when I try and add photos. Given up with software now, so haven't investigated if synching works. I only write reviews in extreme cases (good or bad), and given this costs a stomping 9 quid - a review was needed!
