Depth of field
When I first switched to digital. All my new lenses lacked any DOF markings. A great handicap and after finding this. I can know what to preset my F stop, for a given DOF. Take the guesswork of of you DOF get this and you won't regret it!
Ideal
Great app, simple to set up and use, ideal for manual focus when out and about.
Great tool but Useless unusable sliders
This tool would be perfect if the distance to slider was actually accurate when used in feet & inches. It is virtually impossible to set the exact distance with the slider and therefore, for me unusable. This issue take a potential 5 star use all the time app to a 1 star wish I hadn't bothered rated app. Don't waste your time with this one unless they provide more control to allow EXACT setting of distance to slider in feet and inches. If nearly accurate is good enough for you though then go for it. Not for me thanks
Great app but keeps crashing
I really like the simplicity of this, nothing fancy, just tells you what you need to know. Good that you can save lenses and slide sliders. Shame that I find it keeps crashing for seemingly no reason - perhaps an update needed? Would give it five if it was more reliable.
Functional but clumsy interface
The app works as advertised but the UI is a little uninspired. Some considered design changes and a touch of refinement would greatly improve the experience and usefulness of the app. It's free and it works but I'll keep looking for something a little more polished.
Great free app
Nice simple interface.
Remembers your settings.
Let's you save multiple lens.
And it's free!
5 stars!
Excellent
Simple free app that does what it sets out to do. The ability to support multiple lenses is very nice and the interface is simple and to the point.
Best of the free DoF tools
Of the free DoF tools, I've tried iDoF Calc, SimpleDoF and FieldTools. I found FieldTools to be the best - versatile, remembers settings (camera, lens, etc.). It does all I need and is free! The main enhancement I'd like to see is the ability to enter focal length, aperture and distance values by a selection wheel or keyboard instead of or as well as sliders - it's very difficult to be precise with sliders.
Great job!
Does exactly what I wanted and what it says, nice one, really useful.
Works well with one small glitch
V 2.02
I like the simplicity and the ability to pre set up favourite Cameras and lenses. The sliders are easy to use and the results agree with the hard copy tables I have used for years.
The custom set up function does not work which means I can not set up a camera which is not listed on the pull down profile and which has a unique Circle of Confusion. When this is fixed it will be 5 star for what is a free app.
Having investigated further the custom needs to be swiped to work, so I was a little early with my initial feedback
