First 5 FAQ
Is First 5 free?
Yes, First 5 is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is First 5 legit?
🤔 The First 5 app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I regularly recommend this app to other women looking for clear Bible commentaries to help with their devotions. Love the way the plans are organised to coincide with each book of the Bible. Thanks to the team who makes this app so great!
Useful, but unintuitive
It’s a decent app, but ...
- it’s slow
- takes way too many clicks to explore certain things (like I’m thinking maybe friends should be on the bottom ribbon because I use this to keep friends accountable in their bible reading) (instead I have to go profile, friends, click the friend, click plans, all while dealing with the slow loading times)
- it’s unintuitive (groups is not the most relevant thing to show on the landing page for friends),
- and it would be good to be able to unsubscribe for the spam notifications in app
It’s worthwhile. It’s just not everything it could be.
Love love First 5 - one of my fav apps
I’d like to say what a wonderful outreach this App is. Not only has it changed my own life, but I’ve now shared it with friends who are connecting more with the bible than ever before.
As a group we are studying 1 & 2 Samuel and this is the first time any of us have read a book of the bible and actually understood it. The underlying themes are as relevant today as they were then. So thank you.
One small issue that I’ve stumbled across though just this week, and only since the new app update, is that when we go into Groups and select the plan that we are currently studying, we don’t seem to be able to select the actual day that we may be up too (the app goes a little faster than we can keep up for example: as a group we are up to day 46, however the app has us at the weekend teaching between day 50 and day 51). Previously it was done by clicking on the blue day number or little tv symbol on the individual day however now all we get is the little symbol and it doesn’t matter how much you tap on it, it doesn’t go anywhere.
Thank you and god bless you in all that you do.
Account
Downloaded this but can’t even create an account says every email address I type in to use says email in use and won’t allow me To get any further. I even went as far as to make a completely new email and it won’t let me passed the create account screen. Really disappointing.
I like the app, but it needs work.
Aesthetically pleasing and calm vibes come from this app, but I have encountered a few issues and have some suggestions. I reached out to customer service and Angie clarified a few things - the 'current plan' is the one that will show upon opening the app and when clicking the 'First 5' button on the bottom toolbar, however wish that wasn't the case. I feel it would be more beneficial for the plan that shows upon app opening should be the one the user is currently following. The current plan isn't relative to me at this moment and feel that in order to keep the app as close to the heart as possible it should allow for more customization. The app also defaults to the ESV, but it would be a lot more user friendly if all throughout the app the version displayed would be the one selected in the options menu rather than the pre-selected one. Again, takes away from the customization feel of it all. Lastly, the app is glitchy! Sometimes I come to a white, blank screen and other times the app is far outstretched to where the wording is cut off. I have to force close and reopen that app to try and load it correctly; I shouldn't have to restart my entire device as suggested. So, it's safe to say that the app needs stabilization and am considering deleting and possibly redownloading at a later time. I genuinely enjoy the feel of the app and am hopeful for fixes, but it's too wonky at the moment.
Love
I love this app. I love the weekend lesson because i can listen to it instead of reading. I wish the daily lessons had audio also. I get more out of listening instead of reading. Overall it is a great app.
Love it!
I’m very new to the app and community but loving it so far! I hope they will add a dark mode in the future. It’s pretty bright using it first thing on dark mornings.
Amazing!!!! Highly recommend!!!
I could not love this app more! First 5 is so easy to use, very beginner friendly, and beautifully formatted! Every weekend there is a 15 min discussion over the past weeks “lessons” and every week day there is a chapter to read and a detailed overview on it. There is also a spot for you to join bible groups to learn even more about His Word. And the best part - NO IN-APP PURCHASES!! Everything is free and there are no fees for anything. The best app I have ever downloaded!!!!!!!
DO NOT BECOME A MEMBER IF YOU ARE A MINOR
This app doesn’t state that you have to be 18+ to have an account unless you look far into their terms of use. It needs to be much clearer because I’m extremely sad that I can’t talk to and pray for and encourage any of the people that I connected with on the app because I’m a minor. And multiple other people I met who were also minors were very very confused. Please make this easier to see from the sign up page because frankly most people aren’t going to read enough of the terms of use to find this unless they are looking for it.
Comprehensive and beautiful!
I don’t write app reviews, but I love this app and the Proverbs 31 team. About a month and a half ago, I was broken up with. I discovered Lysa Terkeurst’s books online, and although I’ve seen them before, I never read them or knew much about Lysa. (I come from a denomination that didn’t introduce me to her work.) I was absolutely heartbroken and had gotten so far from God in that relationship which was unhealthy. The culture around me has also been so negative and confusing with politics and all. Anyway, from Lysa’s books, I discovered the Proverbs 31 Ministries YouTube channel and have loved the therapy and theology episodes that have been so illuminating; I wish I discovered those videos while in the relationship. After looking around, I discovered this app, and I am grateful for how comprehensive the Bible plans are, for how aesthetically pleasing the app is, and for the sense of community and peace it brings me as I dive deeper in my faith and heal during this difficult time. It may seem silly, but the UI/UX and graphic design of this app really does make me WANT to open it and read the Word. Thank you :)
