Worst modelling app ever
Straight off the bat it asked me to pay just for more storage then I declined but when I get to use it the textures change and the colours and I barely move my Apple Pencil and then it goes off the screen

This is a great app and this is just for people who are beginners at modeling
Dear Maxon I am writing to express my disappointment with the Forger software by Maxon. Despite the subscription fee, I feel that the software has not lived up to its true potential. One of the main issues I have encountered is the lack of foresight in the software's design and functionality. I feel that it falls short in comparison to other software available on the iPad, and I am concerned that it is not being updated and improved at the same pace. I understand that developing software is a costly endeavor, but I feel that the fee should be reflective of the software's capabilities. I appreciate the potential that Forger has, but at this point, I am not sure if it is worth continuing my subscription given the current state of the software. I would like to see more investment in the software's development so that it can truly become a competitive player in the modeling and sculpting industry. I believe that with the right development, Forger can live up to its true potential and provide users with a valuable tool.
As an avid user of Zbrushcore, I thought that I’d get Forger so that I can create concepts and sculpts whenever I’m away from my desk. However, I can’t see the point of being able to use reference images if the option to lock them to side, front and top views etc isn’t available..! I Can see the benefit if you want a quick reference as you sculpt, but if you want to work on a character from a T-pose, you’re out of luck because as soon as you rotate or zoom in, the image stays in place. Surely this must be fixed in a later version?
Got quite excited about this, but many of the modelling tools don’t seem to work as expected. Mirroring - I can’t make a model symmetrical, only reflect it in a particular plane. Undo - only able to undo last action Bevel - inconsistent response to adjusting segments. Can’t find orthographic view. Will persist for a bit to see if I can resolve… Updated 13/12/22 Changing to a 3* just to encourage devs moving in right direction. View frame freezes often after a few operations. Bake transform often doesn’t update until the gizmo is used to move object. Hit and miss! Use bridge between edges, adjusting segment count makes no apparent difference and tension/surface adjustments don’t change the shape of the geom. It’s possible that this is working but the view frame isn’t updating … iPad Pro 2020 - iOS 16
Genuinely this software could be good for poly modelling but it's very buggy. I would still consider buying this if one off payment was an option, however, it feels like the company have made a huge mistake moving to subscription model. Especially making customers who have already paid for their software move to a subscription since the features are okay, but the poly modelling tools just feel far too janky to justify the subscription price.
I have been a Maxon 4D user for years - (PC and MAC). I have not only bought it (repeatedly over the years), but have also taught it at several U.K. universities…..{I have also bought and used ZBrush for years - until it was recently bought by Maxon}… And now I see Maxon has also bought this app - WITH A SUBSCRIPTION applied!!! I am appalled that Maxon has taken this purely money-making approach. [Looks like it’s time to ‘revisit’ Blender]
The inclusion of polygon modelling is, for me, a game changer. However, the tools are quite buggy, and they need some (lots of) refining. Symmetry also needs to be added for the poly modelling tools. People have complained about the subscription, which I totally get. Big companies and corporations have a proven track record of messing up perfectly good cgi software, but it is so nice to be able to poly model on my iPad Pro.
Forger started off simple and allowed me to sculpt a few pieces but after spending a couple of days sculpting one piece it’s no longer allowing me access the file. I’m not sure whether it’s too big of a file for the app but I have plenty of memory on my device. Also looked for some advice on the forum to see whether I could retrieve it and that’s even faulty. So many hours of work gone to waste.
Powerful sculpting to use in the office or on the couch. I absolutely love it.
