Freesat FAQ
Is Freesat free?
Yes, Freesat is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Freesat legit?
⚠️ The Freesat app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Using Apple iPhone.
When viewing a program description, and want to go back to the listings tapping top left corner, 90% of the time the go back fails.
Fails 100% if I hit the record button.
Solution is to swipe the app clear and restart the app to look at other recording opportunities or descriptions,
Doesn’t work, avoid — deleting the cruddy app🤮
Updated 16/6/23: no reply from CEO, NO FIXES AND APP NO LONGER WORKS. DELETING THE APP @Apple needs to remove it
Manufacturer does not read the app reviews of which there are HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. App doesn’t work on iOS 16 at all App cannot find your Freesat box/boxes App locks up regularly App gets no updates App is utterly hopeless to use App freezes browsing channels App doesn’t set Freesat box to record App doesn’t appear to be supported Vendor doesn’t respond on these defect reports, doesn’t reply email, twitter or instagram and continues mis-advertising they have no place on the App Store!
Remote recording crash
As reported elsewhere if you select a programme to record remotely (in my case the iPad app) it crashes the app. The recording request does get through but to use the app again I need to quit the App and restart. Not the end of the world but somewhat frustrating.
I have deleted and reinstalled the App without any improvements.
Okay but remote control feature is poor
The remote control feature doesn’t work very well. For example it doesn’t have half the buttons which are on the physical remote including on/off. Also when you open an app (iPlayer, Netflix etc) the remote control stops working altogether.
Bugs
Remote control function is not available on iPad, it is on iPhone but has bugs and doesn’t always work. So frustrating!
Guides are good and functional so is record and planner management.
Terrible app
I’ve managed to link the app to my humax box but that’s about it.
Setting programmes to record from the app sometimes work but often takes hours to register so I tend to use the remote as it’s more reliable.
The guide is okay for scrolling through but if I click on a programme description or press record, the app then freezes and I need to restart it. It’s been like this ever since I downloaded it several years ago. 😠
Not as good as should be
Hi is anyone here having problems with the back button I keep pressing it but not working , All so I cannot connect to my new 4K freesat box it’s the latest version but as hard as I try the app and set top box will not connect 🤷🏼♂️
Totally pointless app
Does control the TV at all, it’s a glorified tv guide that’s all.
Apple should be removing these apps that don’t work. It’s been like this for over a year.
Doesn’t work
Followed all the instructions doesn’t work
Should be better
This used to be a perfect app and would set remote recordings within minutes.
App still freezes randomly when browsing the guide.
Local remote control gave up about a year ago and no longer finds the Freesat box when in the home network.
Could be perfect and should be given the time it’s been available.
Shame!
