GeoNet Quake Reviews

Useless for reporting quake intensity

Patrick-089458843 on

New Zealand

Whenever I submit a quake it just spins for minutes - end up having to close the app. If you don’t have the capacity to receive intensity reports then don’t offer it as an option.

Notifications don't work for many years

S.greadly on

New Zealand

I've been emailing them since last year, that the notifications don't work since at least 2-3 years now. Haven't gotten any reply. Tried calling since December but only go to voicemail. Terrible support.

Love this app but one thing…

Marshfly on

New Zealand

The app is great, thank you for it. However the one thing that is annoying is that when you set alerts for quake sensitivity there is no way to save that setting so that it stays there permanently. As soon as you exit the app then return it defaults back to week. You shouldn’t have to keep the app running permanently in the background to maintain the settings as that is one more drain on batteries. If that could be fixed as far as I’m concerned the app is perfect.

Face lift and Apple Watch app

Kirkmayhew28 on

I’m giving this 5 stars because it’s a good app to get information from quakes but I think needs an new facelift and give Apple Watch users app to check quakes in the area

Alerts/ advisories and routine information

taranakishakes on

The site, while useful and interesting could in my opinion improve by segregating the alerts it sends out to be genuine alerts/advisories and separate the routine activity of providing reports/updates and background information.

Getting a lot of unnoticeable data

Crazy horse 9965 on

New Zealand

I’ve had this app for well over 10+years and it has been amazing. For the last 2 or so years I have struggled to get some of the earthquakes that I have selected over light and above. What I do get. And have had today alone approx 8 unnoticeable earthquakes! Others I know do not get these on their app. And then when I do refresh. I get some that occurred yesterday that are over my weak and above. Yet I don’t get those notifications when they do occur. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. But it is still the same for me. What has changed? I am sick of my phone notifying me of irrelevant earthquakes as I do not feel I should get those!

Pushes non-urgent “stories”

qoqpqpapqpqpqpqp on

New Zealand

This app is great, except that there’s no way to opt out of their newsletter spam without completely disabling notifications, which completely defeats the purpose of having a quake alert app. I get that you want to write newsletters and articles, and that’s great. Can you get that I’m not remotely interested in them and let me disable push notifications for them?

Fast and always working

lastbloodtchance on

New Zealand

I can go to the app 5 seconds after an earthquake and the details are there. It seems to handle lots of people using it at the same time.

Not Updating

tinbatt on

New Zealand

I have an apple watch and im getting notified on that when there is an earthquake over 5 as I have filtered but its not showing on the app on my phone. I can refresh several times and it wont show up. I have played around with the settings but nothing works. My app is up to date. It will eventually show up but usually hours later

No longer shared with me

bumblebuttonboo on

New Zealand

I use my app all the time, keep a track of all the activities around NZ, however, tried to check this morning and it’s no longer shared with me - can you tell me why please?
