GeoNet Quake Reviews

Hi my son now lives in New Zealand and my first port of call every morning is a quick look at my app. Although we have been to NZ and understand the nature of the terrain it is difficult not to worry , this app has certainly calmed me down as I have phoned my son who has slept through some earthquakes ( over a thousand reports in the area ) and he sleeps throughout ! with flippant remarks like oh yes the pictures have moved! Still does not stop the worry but is reassuring, thank you

Very interesting

Great app but so awkward and cumbersome to report feeling shakes.

Why after all these updates is it still so slow and fiddly to report feeling a quake? Why do I need to type my home and email address in each time I feel a shake? Surely we could just hit a button for felt and level of intensity for the location we are in and let the app do the rest? There would be so many more felt reports if this was simplified.

Don't like the new colours!

Tarisper on

Very useful and user friendly. However in the latest update, the colour coding for shaking intensity has changed to shades of peach! Very odd, and now difficult to gauge at a glance, as you know have to look at the magnitude (before you could tell roughly from the colour). Also, on my iPad I haven't been able to report a quake for about 18 months. I can fill in the report, but when I send, I either get a timeout error, or it says "unlisted quake". On my iPhone, I send the report and it shows on the map, but then a few hours later, it disappears.

Great for keeping up with folk at home

It is so good to know where things are happening back home. Lots of comfort in seeing where to direct thoughts and prayers. The phone app is equally as good and can be set to alert when big things happen

Brilliant!

Love it (-:

Extremely useful

Extremely useful app especially living in Wellington. Can I please request adding “critical alert notification” so I can get a warning while it’s in silent mode or in focus mode please?

Useless for reporting quake intensity

Patrick-089458843 on

Whenever I submit a quake it just spins for minutes - end up having to close the app. If you don’t have the capacity to receive intensity reports then don’t offer it as an option.

Notifications don't work for many years

I've been emailing them since last year, that the notifications don't work since at least 2-3 years now. Haven't gotten any reply. Tried calling since December but only go to voicemail. Terrible support.

Love this app but one thing…

Marshfly on

New Zealand

The app is great, thank you for it. However the one thing that is annoying is that when you set alerts for quake sensitivity there is no way to save that setting so that it stays there permanently. As soon as you exit the app then return it defaults back to week. You shouldn’t have to keep the app running permanently in the background to maintain the settings as that is one more drain on batteries. If that could be fixed as far as I’m concerned the app is perfect.
