GO / Taxi app for Japan Reviews

Verification barrier

picsart not good on

United Kingdom

Does not offer alternative verification for visitors I can’t book or sign up as a tourist and use taxis.

Impossible for foreigners

Mayfair2010 on

United Kingdom

They only allow verification via a sms and as most eSIMs for visitors are data only you can’t receive texts! It would be simple for them to offer alternative email verification but they won’t as they don’t appear to want foreign customers. I contacted them and received no reply. They just don’t care. It is really disappointing as Uber does not really work there either.

No issues with English phone number

Elle267 on

United Kingdom

Not sure how the other reviewers had issues registering, onboarding was quick and easy, no issues registering my English phone number. Also got a 500 yen voucher which was a nice addition. This app salvaged a very difficult travel day on the way to Hakone from Kyoto. Driver was extremely pleasant and the whole experience was very easy.

Tourist not welcome

011yR on

United Kingdom

Uber you can use anywhere but unfortunately this company don’t allow that as you need a Japanese mobile number to use the service therefore cutting of the tourism market for there business which seems strange as they are losing money the could be making

Fore sight

del10n1 on

United Kingdom

Apologies for the one star but you need a Japan phone number to register to use but we who visit can not have a long turn number or contract or even a pay as you go short term number. Would it be possible then to use WhatsApp platform or telegram as you would still have our email address, thinking your missing a big opportunity. Good luck

Need a Japan credit card

GMan4444 on

United Kingdom

Not only do you need a Japanese phone number - you also need a Japanese credit card, and only a Japanese credit card will do! Completely useless 👌🏽

Galapagos Nipon

daffodilchan on

United Kingdom

Not for tourists

alswar on

United Kingdom

It only accept Japanese mobile numbers on registration.

Mobile number issue

Designersaurus on

United Kingdom

Can’t add a mobile number no matter how I try to enter it.

Impossible to register

Kotatsu Neko on

United Kingdom

Registration requires a mobile phone number for unknown reasons, but no matter what I enter the app never allows me to proceed with registration. Perhaps it needs a Japanese phone number? I guess I'll never know.
