Good Sudoku by Zach Gage

This literally takes all the thinking out of sudoku. Don't see how is it supposed to mimic the pen and paper experience when you can just use focus mode and literally just search for white squares and have the game solve itself...you don't have to think at all. A sudoku that takes all the sudoku out of the game. An extra star because it is a really nice design.

Unfortunately quite buggy at this point. The tutorials often show sudokus that can’t be solved and I had a situation where the sudoku I was solving suddenly got marked as being solved when I opened the hints booklet. Hopefully this will be fixed soon

As far as I can tell, the App “sees” some avoidable rectangles but not others. I’d like to ask Zach about it but there’s no way to do so thru the App so I’m forced to write a review here. Also, some techniques rarely if ever are used. Chains and swordfish for example. I play the impossible extended level.

Developers definitely put lots of effort into it, but it needs some improvement, such as changing the color of given numbers and values. It’s so important to find avoidable rectangles.

When working through the Improve section, I will commonly find several possibilities to fulfill a certain task. An Avoidable Rectangle, for example, had 4 extraneous ways of demonstrating the knowledge, but the tutorials seem to only want one very specific action taken. If you fill in a blank or cross out a note that would follow the format in a different cell, there is a good chance it will not count. This makes learning frustrating.

Please fix the glitches

Can’t get the keyboard input to work on my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 running MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1

It’s the best sudoku app I’ve ever played, and I’ve played a lot of them! Its ability to teach is unmatched in any other app I’ve ever seen. The only reason it’s not a 5 star review is because it doesn’t have a simple setting to add a daily reminder if you haven’t played your daily puzzles to keep your streak going. I can’t believe I’m requesting an app to send me a notification, but I hate missing a day because I get busy and forget to check in later in the day. It’s very frustrating to lose my streak. Looks like they haven’t updated the app in three years, so I doubt they’ll see this or do anything about it, but it would earn 6 stars if I could. I play it every morning and it has taught be to be a better solver!
