Awful

Can’t access my account no matter what I do. It won’t bring me to the screen to generate a code. It won’t allow me to add the email. Ridiculous!

Why?

I used to be able to log into my Chromecast and associated Google accounts on the Chromecast using YouTube.com/activate on my phone browser instead of typing my log in using the Chromecast remote. Now, Google removed the phone browser option and I have to use this app or the Chromecast remote. Yet this app doesn’t even work for logging in, I receive an error every attempt even though the same network is used for the phone and Chromecast. In addition to this app being completely unnecessary except for additional data scraping for Google. Truly incredible decision making 👏👏

Useless if your have improved security on your Google account

Requires you to use your security key, which won’t work on older iPads with the Lightning connection.

Cannot back from account management

Indeed garbage app I ever see from Google LLC. Even can not normally get back from account management, the only step I can do is force quit the app and launch again!!

So bad

Even if everything works and you get it set up, the "copy code" button includes the space, so when you paste the code it is rejected.

Terrible app

But it’s great at running you around in circles if that’s what you’re into.

It's NOT that hard to code a successful signin flow. You have the best engineers. Who's UATing this??? This is absurdly poor quality work. Signing in anywhere in ios forces you to install this app. Tapping on "already installed" or "try another way" doesn't work. And signing into this app has another broken signin flow. JFC!

Works fine after disabling content blockers in safari

Initially had issues but after disabling content blockers in my safari settings it works. I must have some third party extension blocking a Google domain.

Slow; redundant confirmation required

Contrary to other 2-FA apps like Duo or LastPass Authenticator, that instantly generate the code, this one opens up a browser page to do so! Additionally, Google would send a push notification to the same device where I’m using the app for me to confirm. The app should be able to detect this is the same device and skip this check, or at least automatically confirm it.

Worst authentication system EVER

Every other app directs me to smart lock. Smart lock itself isn’t signed in and says my only choice is my yubikey, but I can’t connect my yubikey to my phone because there’s no physical way to do that. My yubikey is connected to a DIFFERENT laptop device which could authenticate, but this terrible system doesn’t know how to allow me to generate a code from a different device. What a junky authentication system.
