Description

The Google TV app, previously Play Movies & TV, makes it easy to find and enjoy the entertainment that you love from across your apps, all in one place. With Google TV, you'll be able to:
Find what to watch next
Browse movies and TV episodes from across your streaming apps, all in one place and organised into topics and genres. Discover new things with recommendations based on what you love and what’s trending across the services that you already have access to. Search for titles to see which apps are streaming them.
Create a list for all your discoveries
Add interesting shows and movies to your watchlist to keep track of your new discoveries and view them later. The watchlist is shared across your devices, so you can even add to your watchlist from your TV or phone and laptop through Search on any browser.
Take your favourites on the go
Your recommendations, library and watchlist go with you wherever you go, whether it is out of the front door or just to the other room. Start streaming straight on your mobile device, or download your previously purchased entertainment from your library to watch when you're not connected.
Use your phone as your Google TV/Android TV remote
With a remote built straight into the app, you can find something great to watch even when the sofa has eaten your remote. And you can use your phone’s keyboard to quickly type complicated passwords, movie names or search terms on your Google TV or other Android TV OS device

It went from being decent to bad, barely useable and now everything that is a part of google is downright evil.

App keeps crashing

Unable to play downloaded video

MuayThaiChampion on

After updating the app I can no longer play videos I downloaded. This has happened before too (I had to redownload all videos I want to access offline). The error message when attempting to play downloaded videos: The operation couldn't be completed. (CoreMediaErrorDomain error -42800.)

Remote won’t work most of the time

Fixitthistime on

Bluetooth turned on in both tv and phone. Wi-Fi turned on, in both TV and phone, but the remote doesnot show up most of the time even after connecting the device to the app.

App feature does not work…

canoma on

I’ve used this app on both iOS and Android. For much of the content I own, I get a HTTP 401 error saying that I am not authorized. It is an irritating problem that has been pointed out by Google users for years and from my understanding the problem has no resolution in sight.

Offline function does not work

App is fine. But don’t expect to go offline and watch anything you’ve rented - if you have limited access to WiFi this app is useless.

Worst Control Ever

Probably the worst TV remote ever. Reconnected it 5 times, restarted my router just for the control on the app to never appear. Appears after 20 minutes you press something once and it disappears again. Fix it.

Remote

This app started off being so helpful and convenient, it is now a nightmare that never works. The playback controls are constantly disappearing and when I follow the instructions to bring them back , it always says “something went wrong “. I should’ve just kept my remote.

Not worth your time.

The experience of watching a movie I rented through this app has been my worst streaming experience of all time. Currently, the movie is paused while I’m typing this due to poor quality streaming and buffering. The movie keeps pausing every few minutes, for at least a minute or more at a time. Typically, I use other streaming services and have never had this issue before. Additionally, once I rented the movie, I was not able to play it directly on Google play on my TV, and I instead had to download the Google play app on my mobile device, just so I could cast the movie to my tv. It has been a pain to say the least. I will be steering clear of this app in the future and do not recommend it.
