--- What makes GoSkyWatch different to other apps?

• Easy to use — No buttons to press or modes to select, just point to the sky to start exploring.

• Designed specially for efficient outdoor use.

• Touch free identification — Information pops up on screen as you move. Great for those cold nights with gloves on!

• Popup images — No need to keep zooming in and out just to see what is out there.

• Full 180 degree display — See at a glance what is in the sky and where without having to pan around.

• Don't need to hold level — Displays the sky view and information at the correct orientation when held at any angle not just landscape or portrait.

• Gyroscope compass auto calibration — No need to calibrate the gyroscope. Advanced adaptive algorithms for smooth and accurate positioning.

• Planets shown with relative brightness to stars — No oversized graphics that prevent you from distinguishing a planet from surrounding stars.

• Unique target identification — Touch drag scheme for greatest accuracy since your finger doesn't hide what you are trying to identify.

• Minimal on screen text — Stars and planets easier to identify since they are not covered by text.

Compass shows wrong orientation on iPad

,fru$trated on

I can’t get the compass to show the correct orientation. I have removed the iPad cover and that makes no difference. I have given the app a specific location. The app is very frustrating.

Calibration doesnt work any more

Gib Jan on

Used to be really good, but the calibration doesnt work anymore. I have taken my iPad out of its case, tried all the moving it around and still its not working. Needs to be resolved as this use to be a really good app and there’s no way i will upgrade to ad free, if its as bad as this

Useless, compass does not work

Bizarro9876 on

Pointless app when the compass constantly changes and doesn’t know which direction the iPad is pointing. I know the direction of north, south, east and west, unfortunately this app doesn’t. And yes I have tried taking my iPad out of the case to prevent interference and it makes no difference.

Previously great now ruined by adverts

Operating system? on

Title says it all, adverts covering screen content, daytime colours in night time mode (red screen) so ruins night vision and screen freezes when new advert loads. I get that developers want everyone to buy the paid for version but ruining this one is not the way to do it

Getting worse, not better

Whapper Stan on

I've had this app for years. In it's early stages, it was brilliant. However, since the previous update it has become progressively buggy, less stable and less accurate. The old app of years ago would track the sky seamlessly and only required calibrating upon first opening the app. And it would point in the right direction all night thereafter! But now it does not. It jerks around and when it finally settles down, cardinal points are often a long, long way adrift of reality, sometimes well in excess of 90˚ and even up to 180˚ – and I'm still going to the same dark sky sites I did when it behaved properly! To make matters worse, it now requires recalibration every few minutes, triggering the 30 second advertising banner, EVERY time. A cynic might suggest there is a link between this constant need for resetting and the deliberately irritating (and far too bright) advertising banner – which may perhaps go some way to explaining the growth in app size as well as the jerkiness. This used to be a clear five star app and probably the best of the genre – and when it works, it's still the best in terms of graphics. But it's becoming VERY frustrating…

Sky Watch App.

Shallot01 on

Installed and pointed at the sky. What I am looking at is not what I am being told. I know what Orion looks like and it is behind me.

Calibration

Can’t re-calibrate!

This is an awesome package holding a great deal of information and what makes it even more special is that it's free!

Informative

Quixotixs84 on

Nice app, easy to us good night mode for use while night viewing. Simple to use. Wifi required to make full use.

Been using this for years

Sillybunt on

It is brilliant, so far as i am concerned only one release was poorly received, so different from almost every other app. Perhaps it is inevitable that adverts are becoming more invasive so you buy the ad free app. On one hand I get it, on the other i am son of scrooge. Although i have used this for years i don't use it very often 3 or 4 times a year.
