Description

Since 2001, GoSwim.tv has produced over 3,000 videos on swimming technique. We have worked with more than 60 Olympic athletes as well as beginning-level swimmers and all levels in-between. In that time, GoSwim was honored with the Paragon Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame and became the Official Technique Video App for United States Swimming.
THERE’S A REASON USA SWIMMING USES GOSWIM
Learning the details of swimming is a search, a process with a path toward general improvement, and the need for the individual to follow specific steps suited only to them. GoSwim has produced content that not only follows progressions, patterns, and more general paths, but we’ve also produced content that serves the content that can help the individual learn their specific needs.
Because of the vast content library, created over the past 20 years, USA Swimming uses GoSwim videos in its Athlete Development Module for online education. No platform has created as many teaching options for customized learning as GoSwim.
WHY YOU SHOULD USE GOSWIM
Simply put, we’re real education. Education is now combined with your performance data to recommend the most appropriate videos based on your data. Get the videos you need when you need them the most. Our goal is to help you become the best swimmer you can be. This means a staged approach to learning the fundamentals of swimming. There are things you MUST do to have the CHANCE to reach your potential in swimming. We’ll be honest about how the process takes time, and about how spending more time learning the fundamentals will help you create a better experience long term.
There are no shortcuts, just as there are no shortcuts in learning how to play an instrument or learning martial arts. You must mast a step before moving to the next,or the next step won’t be as effective. In other words, we’re honest about the process.
WHY DOES GOSWIM UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS SO WELL
We’ve lived the process as athletes, coaches, and educators. Co-Founders Glenn Mills and Barbara Hummel had extensive competitive careers. Glenn won the US Olympic Trials, Finaled at World Championships, won the Division 1 NCAA Championships, and has set Masters Swimming World Records. Barbara swam in 2-Olympic Trials, has set Masters World Records, and has been coaching for the past 25 years.
Taking a very logical approach to swim, both Glenn and Barbara take an honest approach to teaching, workout creation, and swimmer evaluation.
Glenn spent more than 16 months in an RV, traveling the United States. Visiting more than 80 teams and filming more than 10,000 lengths of swimming, he learned the typical problems swimmers have, but more importantly, how to fix them.
WHAT SHOULD YOU UNDERSTAND
First, knowledge acquisition,or learning a new skill, does take time. Swimming is a complex series of movements that must be coordinated with a balanced body and an understanding of the sequenced timing of each stroke. By creating courses that walk you through the step-by-step building blocks of each stroke, you can take each skill and learn it independently of all the others and master it more completely.
Rushing through the process can leave you frustrated with the final result, so we encourage you to take small steps and focus on one skill at a time. While we won’t restrict you from jumping around in the app, most content will follow a learning progression. This means we want you to watch and practice a skill more than just a few times before clicking the “I own it. Ready to move on.” button. You’ll notice you’ll get credit for completing a lesson, and we hope that by the time you finish 100% of the lessons in a course, you’re a better and more knowledgeable swimmer
