Who makes the flashcards?

===

The entire GRE wordlist is selected and defined with usage examples by Magoosh’s expert GRE tutor, Chris Lele. He has been teaching the GRE for more than 10 years, runs a popular vocabulary series on YouTube and he’s also written an eBook on vocabulary. He is nigh unbeatable in Scrabble, or any other word game for that matter.

How well will I learn the words?

===

Academic research has found that memories are formed by repeated exposure to new information, so Magoosh’s flashcard app uses a spaced repetition system. Words you are learning will reappear frequently (occurring less frequently the better you know them) and words you already know won’t be repeated. The GRE word list is culled to only 250 so that you focus on only the most important words.

Your practice will focus on the words that you need to review the most to make sure the words you learn will really stick.

Great app for vocab

GRE_prep2016 on

A great app for learning tough (and sometimes not so tough) vocabulary words for the GRE. It gives you about 5-10 new words before you start repeating a few. Even if you don't know any, it will start giving you new words as well. If you say you know the word the first time you see it, you probably see at most once more during that session until you master the set. If you don't know the words, it will become "learning" and if you then know it, it will move to "reviewing". You will probably see the word at least 5-7 times before it moves to mastered. If at anythime you say "don't know" you start over with that word. Totally different from how I used to study vocab words but I have found that this way, the words actually stick. Of course you will have to continue to review the decks but I found that the next day, there are at most 2 words that i don't remember right away.
