This has been my grocery shopping app since I first got an iPhone in 2010. Sadly, even after charging a fee, support for this app has tanked. There have been no meaningful updates to features, usability, bug fixes, performance, or UI improvements since 2019. Support does not respond to submitted issues. Unable to export data to migrate to another app.
This app is so inexpensive, and has so many features in it, you’ll never go shopping without it! You can sync with family members if you set up a group. Entering the bar code on something you run out of usually enters all the details. You have to edit details for a specific store, but hey, beats entering it all by hand. Having a list of items and comparing the price against what you paid in another store is great. Making different lists for different types of items (think gardening vs cooking) helps immensely. Entering the tax rate helps you stay on budget. Being able to take a picture of the item jogs you to “buy this, not that.” Pingwell has done a fantastic job developing the many aspects of this app, I’ve used it for about 7 years. It’s the best you can use and for a VERY reasonable subscription price.
While I do have a couple of suggestions that I submitted as feedback, the current features make this App very useful for me. I can create separate grocery lists for, say, recipes, specific stores, or events. In a list, I can sort by aisle or alphabetically, and can change the aisle and category info if needed. The pricing and taxes features are the best- so helpful for budgeting.
App works okay, but we paid for no ads and still get them, and it no longer syncs with my family members, which was the main point for using this. Better off using something else.
The key feature of this app is to share grocery lists with my family. That no longer works. Ive been a subscriber for years but that ends in a couple of months. I will move to Apple Notes.
I like this app better than many others I tried. At first it worked on Android OS and no longer does. If you are only Apple OS, I highly recommend it.
It would be helpful if you updated the app more frequently. It would be helpful if the lists would sync across users without having to “leave the group” everytime.
I’m a long time user of this app and absolutely love it!! I’ve tried many other grocery apps, but none hold a candle to the functionality and customization of this one. It helps me stay organized and on budget weekly. There is some initial setup involved, but well worth it. You can set up different stores/lists and when you add an item you can designate which stores carry it, as well as assign separate pricing per store. You can also create and assign aisles to each item so it saves time and eliminates ping pinging across the store when you’re shopping. You can also add tax per item. You can move and copy items to different stores and share a shopping list with someone else. If you ever have an issue, simply email support and they are very responsive. This is by far one of the most used apps on my phone. Thanks to the Grocery Gadget team for all you do and for making my Mom job of weekly grocery shopping a lot more enjoyable.
Long time customer of the app and happy to report that adding items to list via barcode scanning is working again after a long period where it did not. Developers have been responsive over the years and the app synchs pretty well between two iPhones in the household. I’d like to see the look and feel of the app take better advantage of iOS frameworks but the overall functionality is there and keeps us using it.
