GuruShots: Photo Game

This app is designed to make you spend money. While it claims you can win by receiving votes, the voting system is fundamentally flawed. If you don’t want to vote for any photos on a given page, you’re kicked out of voting—you can’t move to the next page. Consequently, you only see photos that people have paid to boost, and you can only boost by buying their boost tools. Additionally, you have to vote for a ridiculous number of photos to earn an exposure bonus. Don’t waste your time or money.

Start a new team league season. Boring to always see the same on top. Try something like European football leagues. Promote winning teams and level down for loosing teams. Determined season like 6 months or so. Turbo most popular photo is awful, some of the photos we can’t see and honestly many i would not vote for. Recognize team team leaders with some type of recognition. Make prices and achievements worth while GS accessories and gifts, tshirts, etc . Increase the visibility of the brand name. Turn GS into a top of the line brand and recognized world wide. Promote GS and the photographs. Hope i helped. Thank you

My phone camera has terrible quality, and all my good photos are taken from my more professional camera. I upload all the photos I take onto google photos, but I can’t access them through the google photos on gurushots?? Why do you make the uploading process so horrible? I would understand if it was to ward off copyright but it gives me the options to upload screenshots and whatnot?? What is this horrible format? I haven’t been able to use the app in a month now because the images I HAVE been able to access through gurushots are not the ones I want to upload. Please fix this, as soon as possible. Thank you.

Don’t waste your time and effort on a useless app. Just make an Instagram or YouTube account. For real, this is completely useless, and look at the app’s privacy section. Why do they even need to take all that? So they can sell the info…

I absolutely do not like phone games but love photography, this game completely covers both, not really a game and pushes more and better photography.the reviews that complain about money grabs is missing the point of the game, it’s about practice and recognition, not popularity, this game lets people see what other people like , not what is pushed as “acceptable focus, perfect composition “

Professionals beware: Gurushots. A toy in a wardrobe of wonder. What could have been a mighty sword turns to play make belief in a child’s sandbox. At first glance it dazzles with its exciting votes and shiny paid prizes. But after sometime, its truth bleeds. “There is no truth behind its vail” Gurushots has targeted the masses as a game. Nothing more. It’s take away for all; inspiration. Browse, vote and find yours. If however you’re seeking truth… you’d best seek elsewhere as this wardrobe, is nothing more than a frozen wasteland.

This is a very fun app that definitely inspires me to take better photos and try to improve each time. But one criticism I have, is in regard to portrait oriented photos. It may be a user bias, but It seems as though landscape oriented photos are preferred. I understand that the layout of the app makes portrait oriented photos a little more difficult to display, but I do wish that there could be a little more support for them as it does feel like there may be a bias. Maybe alternating portrait and landscape during the voting process may be a potential solution, but I am no app developer. Other than that I think it is a wonderful app that helps beginners figure out their style and gives some gratification for the effort it takes.

App is very good. About the only negative is the price for keys and the Canadian exchange difference. Keys are hard to get and way too expensive. Otherwise I would give a 5 star

Many reviews have described GuruShots as a photography popularity contest/game, which is true but up to the choice of the player. There is a “pay to stay competitive” aspect, which isn’t a problem at all since developers do need to make money. It is fun, and the feedback (via votes, likes, and Guru Picks) I get for competing pictures does help me figure out my photos in terms of what photos work and what doesn’t in terms of popular, general opinion. It is a game at the end of the day, rather than a photography-exclusive app. You have to submit your own photos, but they can be photos of anything as long as they abide by the rules. I’ve had issues with payment, but that was more bugs related between cohesion between Apple Pay and the GuruShots app. Customer support got back to me fast, and helped me get to the right places for Apple Support to get a refund on an unfulfilled purchase.
