Notifications Still An Issue. It’s been YEARS and they still haven’t fixed their notifications issue. A notification banner will pop up in your phone but when you press it to open on the app to read more, it DOESN'T direct you to the article. The only reason the app is being downloaded yet it still hasn’t been fixed. It’s the only reason I deleted it.

Why is there breaking news that we get notified for but when you click on it, there’s no story on the app?

Really frustrating that engaging with breaking news notifications DON’T take you to the story the notification is about, but rather just an offer to watch live TV. Makes no sense!

News alerts that pop up on phone can’t be found at app site. Currently, updates regarding the weather and traffic are not available but only set weather statements. On Monday, I was stuck in traffic coming from town to Kailua for four hours. I relied on My Kailua and Waze. The app didn’t indicate that the H-3 Kaneohe was backed up by 2 1/2 hours. It also didn’t indicate that Kalanianaole was closed between Castle Junction and Castle Hospital due to a tree falling on an ambulance Kailua bound or to get to Maunawili you had to go through Olomana. Also, did not see any police directing traffic. On the plus side, the weather forecast for the evening program (Jennifer Robbins - 5 star) is more detailed and easy to understand.

I wanted to donate to the Maui wildlife “LAHAINA RISE” project but the HNN website either lacks a link to the charity or the link is hidden somewhere that is hard to find. Not Pono.

Way too many ads and links makes it difficult to navigate

As stated with the review above, this app will send you notifications for breaking news but when you click the link, it never brings you to the article that was presented. I am unsure of how such a huge flaw could be overlooked for so long.

The app sends me notifications on articles but when I click on it an ad pops up and I can never find the article it mentioned. I’m close to deleting the app as a nuisance. It seems they’re more interested in me seeing ads than the news I’m interested in.

Playback of previous newscasts problematic and frustratingly glitchy. I wish HNN would fix this.
