Helium AUv3 MIDI Sequencer

I find myself using midi so much now, and this well constructed app has brought a lot of possibilities together in a sensible easy to use way. I will be spending a lot of time with this and getting better results. Thank you!

The app does everything I need except having looping sequences of different lengths, but this is easily fixable by using multiple instances of the app. The only thing that is not working is the sustain pedal. If I ever press the sustain pedal during recording, everything breaks 😞 I tried it with Nord Grand, MiniFreak, Arthuria Keylab… It records perfectly if I don’t touch the sustain pedal, but once I touch it, everything just goes mute. I hope it can be fixed ☺️

This is a great sequencer. Nice UI and step recording is a great feature. One downside that I find very limiting is that it is not possible to set different loop lengths for the tracks.

I use this app primarily to edit events that have previously recorded on the MIDI Tape Recorder.Suffice to say that I’m notYet leveraging the full potential of this sequencer, which is jampacked with features.It offers hands down one of the most intuitive piano rolls I’ve ever used. As it is the case with most apps from this prolific developer,Both the user interface and the workflow are very well put together.

Midi was something of an arcane art form to me, I understood the concepts but found the implementation was often overly complex. Until Helium. What 4Pocket shave done here is develop an app that does for midi what the also excellent Neon does for audio. Everything needed is at your fingertips, and quickly delivers results. When used under AUM, Helium and Neon excel, forming a superb recording and clip launching combo.

Nice editor, another quality app by this developer, although like a lot of the apps by this developer, the font is very small on the iPhone, making it nearly unusable until you get used to whats where. It’s also very hard to accurately set CC levels and to know if a level is even been set when at low values. That said, well worth having in the tool box even I you have other editors, this has handy features like quick easy access to midi files with it’s inbuilt file management you can drag and drop from. One important missing feature is time stretch, so unfortunately this isn’t the one and only editor you’re likely to need.

Really enjoying this but... It would be great if the width of the automation line was the same width as the quantisation. For example if the automation quantisation is a bar make the width of the automation line also one bar. At the mo it’s very hard to set accurate values. Also would be nicer if you could make the automation window even higher than the current large setting, so normal, larger, largest!

This app is amazing with many many features and really good interface - clear and loads of hidden gems. Thanks so much and worth every penny. Turning off quantisation would be a really helpful addition for making ambient music - cheers

The update didn’t change my problem so I’ve done some more digging and have found the problem. When an empty instance is reloaded after closing AUM the first time it returns with the Loop button set so it does respond to the host but plays a loop of zero length and the timeline cursor doesn’t move. Normally you can’t set the Loop button in an empty instance so it’s very much an edge case. I don’t use loops much so I didn’t notice this first time round. Sorry about all that but I so much wanted an app like this that I was very disappointed when it seemed not to work. Anyway now I can get on with using and enjoying Helium in my work flow. 5 Stars

Have been working with this app for a week now ..a few hours every day.. I’ve got to know it and even though it’s a magnificent starting point developmentally it is so that right out of the box you get amazing functionality and a super smooth work flow. In essence you can get ideas efficiently expressed with this sequencer...expressed in the other sense of adding dynamics via CC , adding nuance to your creations..it’s is now possible within AUM to develop and perfect yours ideas without going outside of the environment 🙏🙏🏿🦄
