Good

Hoskiz on

I've tried every hi-res player and this is one of the best. Attractive interface with smooth scrolling and plays hi-res files perfectly. I don't use DSD. If I could change anything it would be to eliminate the splash screen when opening and make it possible to enable and disable the EQ directly from the now playing screen instead of having to access it through the menu. Apart from that perfect!

Playback from HD library is broken

Tomasz232 on

It's a great player, but currently whenever my screen is going into sleep mode then player is unable to play next track (it will play till the end of current track then it become silent). It makes it unusable for me. No such issue with default or other players. Issue is only with playback from HD library. When issue occures I'm also unable to switch song to previous or next one from widged on lock screen. I hope it can be fixed soon. My device is iphone 6s with iOS 10.3.3 Update: same issue with iOS 11.2.5 Email address to radius doesn't work :(

Great Sound/Looks dated

Corrinpowers on

The sound is really worth it, expensive but even using AirPods the quality is remarkable. Step up to a Sony Hi Res speaker and it’s awesome. However compared to JetAudio or KaiserTone the interface is dull, can’t really be customised and is a real turn off.

For £10 still not overwhelmed!

I've upped my star rating to 3 but that is max. This is not really a good audiophile app. As I said in a previous review the absence of gapless playback (how can any audiophile think this is acceptable especially in one of the most expensive apps I've seen). I have discovered how to delete folders but it's not obvious. I also found out why some of the music I added via a wired connection did not appear. The app does not recognise CD quality files!! A bizarre behaviour. Ok they are not hires but that's absurd. Still not a fan I'm afraid.

Good sound quality but network setup limited

qafro on

I bought this app for the sound quality and network to NAS server. But I lack SMB NAS setup and no support from the vendor

No good with DSD

Carlos6868 on

Bought this app to stream DSD from my server across my network to my iPad and iPod, it seems to work fine with flac but every track played in DSD/DSF just crashes the player a few seconds from the end. So if you plan on using this for DSD files then i wouldn't bother, i tried contacting radius using there website but the emails just come back as delivered failed, suprise suprise.

An outstanding audiophile app with the potential to be even better.

Neplayer is a superbly designed and executed high res. audio player, and excellent value for money. Coupling my iPhone 6 to a headphone dac and streaming the highest quality files via my NAS on my home LAN yields really outstanding sound. But it could be even better if it could also locate my NAS when away from home! Whereas Synology's DS Audio app does this instantaneously via its Quick Connect facility , albeit with a discernible drop in sound quality, Neplayer seems unable to do the same. I assume it needs some form of port forwarding facility and so make a plea to Radius to incorporate some such readily configurable option in a future revision. Given the very large size of high quality audio files and the relatively small memory of most IPhones, this would be a real plus and place Neplayer head and shoulders above its current rivals. Meanwhile congratulations for producing such a splendid audiophile app!

Brilliant app. If you play hi-res through an external DAC, this is worth every penny.

Fantastic app. Well done to the developers. Very slick and well thought through UI, very fast and easy to navigate through several sources of music (DLNA, iTunes library, hi-res on device etc). Advanced features for those with external DACs. One or two niggles (see below) but otherwise superb and worth every penny. Hopefully the bugs will be addressed. For my requirements, this app is unique. With either MinimServer or Asset UPnP running as a DLNA server, I can play hi-res ALAC up to 24/192 and native DSD (I tested DSD64) via my external DAC, in my case an iFi Audio iDSD Micro. Everything stays in its native format and is bit-perfectly passed off to the DAC. The app will package DSD as DoP on the fly, or (as tested with an Audioquest Dragonfly) will convert to PCM if your DAC can't handle DSD. For example, the Dragonfly will only handle up to 24/96 PCM, so DSD64 is automatically converted to 24/88.2 PCM in this case. It will also downsample PCM (192->96 and 176.4->88.2) to fit your DAC's capabilities if necessary. Ne Player seems to be the only app that treats all the hi-res formats properly *and* will take them from a DLNA server. Two small bugs/issues I've found: 1. When playing DSD albums from DLNA, a brief buzzing noise is heard at the end of tracks and the app often stops and crashes when it reaches the end of a track (tested with both Asset UPnP and MinimServer). 2. Playback from DLNA server isn't gapless, which can be annoying on some albums. Gap is less than 1 second. Rated as 4 stars in recognition of a superb app. 1 star lost for niggles above.
