.. having it on Blackberry. It was, for some reason, better/easier to use on BB. It makes me think it might be something to do with code language used, but I’m not an expert on this front. I think the biggest thing people need to see with this app is: you get out of it what you put in to it.. so, take some time to play around, check out online for reviews, forums, how to’s etc. & train on it. I can’t disagree, it could do with a little ‘modernisation’ touch-up. It can seem a little over bearing to a newcomer who is not used to the GUI, but this’s no reason to give it less stars. It’s a very capable app, has a ‘lot’ of great functions and if used to its full extent, it’s very powerful. I don’t know the team who develop it & can’t remember I’ve ever emailed at all about the app. All I’d ask them, as a very loyal customer whose support they have, is; please consider giving the app a GUI tidy-up, some new, fresh ‘videos’ on how to use it best, & a really good ‘user guide’ with illustrative help screenshots, detailed sections on how to get the very best out of all of the different capabilities it has. If you do this, I feel you can take the app forward into its next phase and, gain a much bigger following/user base. There are hardly any apps out there with the functions Neutron has, you could become the ‘King of The Castle’ if you spend some time shoring up the app. Anyway, great app, with great futuristic opportunities to be No.1!

NPlayer and many others find and play them fine. As do my windows players.

The app is good ,and I like it a lot. It’s a 5 star app. But bugs keep getting added with updates, and others don’t get noticed and fixed. I’ve found 4 so far. Mostly GUI issues, but someone should be bug- testing the app, before the update is released. Since my reviews for this app keep getting deleted for no obvious reason, I’m only going to describe 1 issue. A long review would be a waste of my life. Some theme colours cannot be changed. Most obviously, the LED on the Gain slider and the centre-line for the EQ sliders. They are stuck on green, with no obvious setting to adjust that. I’ve made a few themes now, and they look a bit stupid with the unchangeable colours. I’ll update this review, if an update fixes the issue. Maybe I’ll also describe the other bugs, if my review doesn’t get deleted. Again!!!

If you just want DSD DoP with your DAC, use FiiOMusic, it’s free and uses native GUI components. This software probably used some cross platform GUI SDK to maintain its look and feel, but it’s awkward to use, not benefiting with any native controls, e.g., swipes. The UI also looks dated. It doesn’t mean it has a retro look, because I can’t see proper designs, e.g., Winamp has a classic UI but it functions well, this one is not. Some may say it’s powerful and for savvy users. Well, you should see Poweramp, that one is powerful and for savvy users. Apart from the insufficient UI, some functions don’t work. The only reason why I bought this software is for the SMB connection, it doesn’t work. Well, things I like about this software. It scans through the DLNA and builds a DB, it’s better than the other apps I have tried. The DSD playback was smooth, I didn’t have any issues. Conclusion, the software works but I don’t the experience.

Where are the headphone presets in the DSP EQ? You state there are 2500. I can’t find the list.

Turns my iPad Pro into the perfect partner for Hi Res music, controlling the streaming of music from my iMac external hard drive or from music held on the iPad. In both cases quickly allowing the music selections ,streaming perfectly to my KEF LS50W, but probably most wireless speakers. Suggestions , a pair of visualiser needle graphics realistic 3D , softly lit in 70’s amplifier fashion, or a modern ones like the technics g700, on a aluminium plate graphic , silver or black, now that would be audiophile heaven.

I don’t normally do reviews for App Store, but Neutron is SO good, I think it deserves one. Mostly, I work with Windows, foobar2000 and some quite fancy hardware. Many of my audio files are high-rez flacs. Recently, I set up a music server on USBs connected to a router. The normally excellent foobar (mobile) struggled with my NAS/FTP setup, so I looked for an alternative. Having gone through pretty much everything on the App Store, I finally installed a trial version of Neutron. Fabulous! Everything is configurable, plenty of information about the audio itself, a huge number of options. The SOUND is excellent at every hardware level (Amazon Echo to Meridian) and volume setting. And, yes, the output is at a very decent level. I notice that it even causes my DAC to run cooler than normal! Omissions? A manual or guide would have been nice. This apart, Neutron is that rare app which is actually [well] worth the purchase price!

My first try with the app, and it is quite superb with sound quality. I reckon it sounds better than VOX Music.

I have used a number of players on the app store both free and paid and I haven’t found one I would call great, some are easy to use but they tend to have limited functions. This player is complex and it could be great but the UI is hard work and not very elegant or intuitive so it is hard to use. A User Guide would help but would not solve all the issues. If you’re very tech savvy you will find it easier but good designs guide you instinctively through the setting up process and do things logically, I don’t think this app does that ...!
