Very good for quick orientation in new and difficult territory. Don't expect to encounter super-powers, but it is like a good friend helping to find the proper trail on the quick.

I couldn’t ask for a better Chess App. 👍
1. When try to safe a game and try to type a name for the event, you cannot see what you are typing 2. App crashes occasionally which is very annoying. Otherwise good app
Very pleased with this program. No bugs that I've found, lots of options to adjust everything & a good opponent.
Quite a good app, the chess is excellent as is the feature set, but the interface is a little ‘lumpy’ and could do with some polish. It will not always let you resign, and sometimes there is a complete lack of feedback on some of the menu choices which makes it difficult to understand what us happening. I would prefer to be able to set a lower ranking, not a biggy, as you can lose ranking points, but it is more motivational to gain points than lose. Not sure why it allows you to play on after you have resigned? Or, why it tells you all current progress on a game will be lost when you start a new game after Checkmate? Surely it should just start the new game.? Yes, all on all, a good app def worth 4 stars, but not 5
It will be better if the software can add training video as well.
The best commercial chess engine for the IPad imo. An interface specifically and well designed for the IPad rather than a port from the IPhone. Extremely strong engine. On my IPad 2018 it says maximum strength is 3050 ELO. From the testing I’ve done against engines on the CCRL 40/40 list on equivalent hardware I think that is about right. I would like the facility to set different time controls for black and white for handicap purposes. I’m not aware that is available on any other engine for the IPad either. All in all an excellent chess program.
Plays a great game and openings patterns helpful but pricey compared to shredder and does not show a bank of taken pieces. Like the walnut board.
Hiarcs is proving to be an excellent app with lots of configurable options for playing time, strength, style of play and board options etc. I would like an option to give the computer less time rather the same as myself but other than that everything is there to make this the perfect playing partner. Hiarcs also adjusts its strength to match yours or it can be set to whatever you prefer, patter to Super Grandmaster! There are excellent training aids such as a coach to give you advice alongside the renowned Hiarcs opening book to help steer you into excellent opening lines. Without doubt Hiarcs is worth the cost and will prove to be an excellent opponent for all standards of player.
Excellent and enjoyable to play.
