Description

The virtual Hop card for Apple Pay is here!
- Add a Hop card to your Wallet app
- Pay your fare instantly with your iPhone or Apple Watch
- Save money by earning month passes as you ride
- Available for Adult, Honored Citizens and Youth
With Hop Fastpass, paying your fare on TriMet, C-TRAN and Portland Streetcar is fast, easy and convenient.
TAP AND GO
Hop is that simple: Just tap and go. Instead of carrying a plastic card or flashing your mobile ticket at the bus operator, tap your phone on the green Hop reader whenever you board a bus or train. After a split second, you’ll see a green checkmark and hear a chime — that means you’ve paid your fare and you’re good to go!
No need to open an app, choose which pass to buy, or activate a ticket. You don’t even have to authorize your payment when you tap a Hop reader. With a virtual Hop card in your Wallet app, it all happens automatically and instantly, so paying your fare with Hop is extra fast and easy.
Note: If you have both a credit card and a Hop card in Wallet, the Hop reader will charge the Hop card.
SAVE AS YOU RIDE
With Hop, instead of buying passes in advance you earn them as you go. All you have to do is ride. So you get the savings of a pass, without the upfront cost. You’ll never pay more than a day pass in a day or a month pass in a calendar month.
A virtual Hop card lets you use the reduced Honored Citizen and Youth fare, as well as Adult fare, when paying with your phone.
EASY SETUP
In a few easy steps, we’ll set up your account, add a payment method (or simply use an existing credit/debit card in Apple Pay), and add your new Hop card to your Wallet app.
Use the Hop app or website to manage multiple virtual and plastic Hop cards, see recent transactions, load money on your Hop cards, or set up Auto-Load so you’re never stuck without fare. You can also keep track of your balance, your time remaining on your ride and your progress toward earning a day or month pass.
A new virtual Hop card costs $3 (just like a plastic card), but there’s no charge to convert an existing plastic Hop card into a virtual card.
REMEMBER: Tap every time you board, including transfers. Your tap is your proof of payment.

Using an iPad? You can download the Hop app to manage your Hop cards, but the Virtual Hop card is available for iPhone and Apple Watch only.

Hop Fastpass Reviews

Okay app

I preferred the old layout when it showed you much until you get the monthly pass.

3$ ghost charge

MumblingMeerkat on

They’ll charge you 3 bucks to add the card to your Apple wallet. Just blatantly stealing

It maybe works best with newer phones

I’ve used this since it first came out. With a couple of different phones. It works best when I keep my phone and the app updated. I’ve never had a problem except when I had two accounts and got them mixed up. I emailed support and they helped me straighten it out. Keeping track of my phone is easier for me than keeping track of a pass.

Stopped working on new iphone

Shugarlove on

I got a replacement iphone and when i installed this app none of my hop cards show. But they appear on the website so i just use that now. App is useless. I called customer service and they said theyd transfer my case to tech support but they never got back to me and problems not fixed. So, uhh, yeah pretty useless.

The app works, don’t listen to the complainers!

The virtual card works amazingly! All you have to do is tap at any hop card reader and it quickly takes your fare. This is especially helpful when I am running late for the train and I need to pay my fare in an instant before the train departs. I’ve never had any issues using this app. From day one it worked perfectly, people just need to learn to follow instructions better. The app works every time I need to use it, as long as I have enough money loaded to my card. The real issue is that sometimes the readers don’t work properly, and you can explain this to TriMet security and they will not write you a ticket. In the rare event the card reader doesn’t work at one train station, just tap your card at the next train station. It’s not rocket science, guys!

New update

AJR326 on

United States

New update doesn’t show when you’ve reached the month pass, so now you pay for every single ride even after paying the required monthly pass amount.

Older version is better

Wlugviel on

United States

I’m not sure when it changed but there is nowhere to find how close you are to monthly pass anymore. Bring back the older version. Terrible.

“Good, when it works.”

Kingsknight503 on

When it works like it’s supposed to it’s fine. When it doesn’t, it’s usually their own machine. Also, training ticket checkers on buses is the dumbest waste of internal resources ever seen.

At your own risk!

maevin2 on

It worked for a while but with $28.50 on my “virtual card” the hop pass in my wallet vanished, so when I tap to pay it draws directly from my credit card, by-passing Hop completely. No amount of phone support or futzing with this app has got it working again.

Can’t save options or use Senior rate

ecbpdx on

United States

If I use the app to tap for my fare boarding a bus, it will only use regular Adult fare. Seniors and kids are tough outta luck. (2) There’s a supposed option to choose how far you want to walk in the trip planner, but it doesn’t work. 1-mile walk is the default, and that’s all you get. (Sorry, I’d rather not walk a mile in the rain around Portland after dark.) Trip planner is useless.
