This has got to be one of the best games I’ve played on my phone. Easy to casually pick up for a quick five minute break, easy to slip into a mad lunch hour session trying to beat a challenge/achievement. Unique and simple gameplay that can get as challenging as you want it to be.
Title says it all. Inconvenient when using iPad with keyboard-equipped cases.
There should be a co op mode or vs, like for the co op it would be like if one go’s through the stares then they both go through but if one didn’t go pray then they won’t go. For vs it would be like chess or a race. Idk it’s just a thought.
favorite mobile game ever, phone is dying and running out of space but hoplite is forever. crashing on load right now however.
Does not save progress! I closed the app at level 10 and when I opened it, I was back at level 1!
Of the literally hundreds of iOS games I have played over the last 5 years... This is by far one of my favourites. The well thought out "simple to learn/ hard to master" gameplay, no in-app-purchases, the achievement system unlocking new perks, the great pixel art and the easy to use interface all come together to make a game that for a year now I haven't been able to put down. Hoplite is WELL worth the money.
So addicting and tough to put down. Quite simple to learn with a good tutorial but really hard to beat. Start from scratch every time you die but with a new map. At the higher levels you can't make one mistake without having to start all over again. Frustrating for sure but that's also what makes this game so classic and fun.
I didn't think much of it at first, but what an amazing piece of simple, elegant design. Just enough options to offer variety, good balance, simple to learn, hard to beat, and fun to replay over and over.
I hope the developers do more.
Hard to put down once you figured out the moves. Hard at first, it gets easier. A fresh new map every game. Do an online search for 'hoplite hints' to learn basic moves etc. Most enjoyable way to kill a few minutes, like playing solitaire to pass the time.
