Hybrid Calisthenics Reviews

Love it!

Love the workouts and the guides! Very helpful and comprehensive :) most of my problems are with how the app works itself which is expected since it's relatively new. I dont like that after completing levels it automatically moves u up to the next lvl and marks ur workout as incomplete if you still only do previous lvl exercises, thats pretty discouraging as a beginner. Being unable to see what workouts you did in the past and at what level/progression is also something that bugs me as someone who kinda needs to see my progress in front of me to believe that its happening at all (adhd). excited to see the app grow!

Buggy App

Hampton’s routine is honestly great, but being an unpaid beta tester for this app is the diametric opposite of a good time.

It's good enough for now

Qaarantine on

The app is good enough for giving high quality, well explained exercises and progressions, which is what it's meant for. The workout program has been golden for a long time -- I used it while it was still only a website. The app itself, tho, still has a while to go. Simply put, it's very clunky. A lot of small things that are hard to put in to writing that add up over time to make it frustrating to use. - it won't let you move on if you don't log a certain amount of sets, saying they'll go unlogged. I usually just log 1 rep when it tells me to do this. Sometimes I can't go to the 3 reps some exercises ask for. - it has the same default amount of reps every time you go to a new movement. Say, glute bridges, the default is 15 I believe. I'll do 25, click 10 times to set it to 25, and then when I go to do my next set, it's back to it's default 15. Sounds like a small thing but for big differences, you're clicking this button (that doesn't respond very well, mind you) upwards of like 60 times per full workout. Some suggestions: - click and hold. Setting the amount you need every time would be less tedious if clicking and holding the button would change the number without individual taps. - remember what you last logged. When you change the reps, if it stayed at the number you changed it to, you would likely only need to change it a few at a time past that. - make it a type in. Possibly the easiest solution. Instead of an input for every digit up or down, just make it so you can manually type in your number of reps. - it doesn't follow the program's days of the week if you don't do it every day. If you don't do a day where the program calls for glute bridges and leg twists, even if several days have gone by, it will still be on that day of the program. This is a preference thing. Some people will prefer to pick up where they left off, and others will want to follow the workout by the day. I would like to do it by the day. It would be good if there was an option to use either/or, because I think there are a good amount of people in either opinion. Overall, I really do like this app. It's not gimmicky, doesn't constantly bombard you with asks for upgrading to premium, and you know when there will be an ad. The ads are well integrated to be the least intrusive possible and it's one of the best ways I've seen them used to not obstruct user experience. I really appreciate the people behind putting it together. These are some suggestions to im

Love the app hate the ads

So the app itself is great, but after whatever update this last one was the ads are uncloseable. You can’t see the “X” that I know used to be there on some of these ads. Because some of them are the same ones I’ve been seeing since day 1. I don’t know what changed but I literally cannot get through any workouts right now.

Doesn’t save sets sometimes… have to sit through 3 minutes of ads to relog sets

Love the program, a few suggestions

I was so excited to see that there was an app for this program now! I’ve been really enjoying it and would definitely recommend it! There’s a few things that I would love to see added: 1) the ability to customize my own weekly routine 2) the ability to look at past as well as future days

Started Out Great

I only use the app a few times and it was great but now trying to use it today it won’t log my exercises. I’m not sure if it’s just a glitch or if they changed what’s free?

5 for content, 3 for functionality

Cstett on

United States

The content really reflects Hampton's positive and generous energy that you get from YouTube or wherever else he is seen. It's great to have everything all laid out with the ability to log your sets. However, as a new user, I find it very easy to make mistakes, and there does not appear to be any way to edit, which is very frustrating. Would love to see that developed.

Love the exercises, but the app is hard to use

comonsince on

So I’ve been doing the HC exercise program for about a month now and have been very pleased with how it has helped me not only begin but progress through a comprehensive exercise routine. This is all free and invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for it. I would recommend anybody who is looking to get into a beginner workout routine download the app and give it a look/try. However, the app itself can be incredibly frustrating at times. In the free version, the app shows you an ad during your cooldown. This is not really a problem at all, and I’m more than happy to play a quick and usually skippable ad when I’m catching my breath. But recently there’s been an ad that just freezes and I can’t ever click out of it. This might not even be that big of an issue, but the progress for the entire workout is not saved, even if you just finished the entire thing. It can also be very slow to load, and there’s not much in the way of actually viewing logs or progress, or for saving your progress if the app bugs out (which isn’t an infrequent occurrence). So yeah, just a *little* more user friendliness could go a long way, and could make the app as good as the program that’s on it!

Pretty close to perfect!

YoungManOldBody on

Without your health, you got nothing. Sure there’s a few non-intrusive ads (there’s a paid version with no ads) but it’s a FREE app that will get you healthy. The program includes video cues to help with your form that will help you every step of the way. And Hampton (the mind behind the app)…just watch his videos. He’s all over social media. The perfect guide and coach! No matter where you are on your fitness journey, this app will help. Recommended!
